Shipping is likely pretty high in any case. I will wait till my plugs burn out, and then drill and tap for a turbo plug. He has some other nice stuff though.davidll1984 wrote:The link To the plug adapter is Good https://www.ebay.com/itm/GLOW-PLUG-ADAPTOR-COX-09-engine-use-standard-long-plug-MADE-in-USA-911-009-/281012094238 except for Most canadien wont chip To Canada very disapointedy hate those saler
wil have To search for new seler y just use qwean bee wating To Find one
So... drilling out burned out .09 plugs to accept a normal glow plug...?

No, not a regular glow plug, there is a loss of power. Drill and tap for a Turbo style plug. There is a taper on the bottom of the plug for the seal instead of a copper washer. Gives the same or better performance than a stock head. A bit harder to prepare the hole than for a 1/4" 32 plug, but worthwhile. They are a bit longer thread than a standard plug so they will not always work in all instances, but will for most Cox motors over .020. The Kamteknic plugs are essentially that.

Re: Cox .074 Queen Bee nelson plug
The Nelson plug is very similar to a Turbo style plug except the diameter is about 1mm larger. The Nelson's normally cost a bit less though. Smaller motors than a .15 I like to use the Turbo plugs anyway.

It runs!!!!
I got my engine running yesterday and did some testing today. With the MECOA glow head adapter and a k&b medium heat idle bar plug (that one had the best top end and idle out of my plugs) it idled nicely around 5000 rpm, had an ok transition, and had around 16500 rpm on a cox black 6x3 prop. Airbleed hole is .040”

This is the power to beat.

Cox Queen Beast .074 / Kamtechnik Turbo Plug Adapter Test
Works with the .074 and Tee Dee .09
Static Peak 19,783 rpm / .214 hp - 158w / 56.2 mph pitch speed
Impressive 23.3 oz thrust!
OS P4 turbo plug / 25% nitro / 20% oil
This is now a viable power house well exceeding the TD .051

Re: Cox .074 Queen Bee nelson plug
One thing i probably should mention: the mecoa adapter did have less compression than the stock adapter, however it has plenty of room for long plugs. My stock head was in need of replacement so I thought I’d get some numbers on this one since it hadn’t been tested.

Looks like a good runner and the .040" bleed hole gives a reliable idle for touch and stops...goes.

Re: Cox .074 Queen Bee nelson plug
i ran it again yesterday and found the needle valve seal was leaking so i put some fuel line in place of the spring
ran really great and it seems to like the heavier prop (I cut down a APC 7x4 to a 6x4 and it’s MUCH heavier than the cox black 6x3)
and
it idled for 15 minutes straight with no problems at all!
