Mark:
Great ads from days gone by.
The 1961 Camel ad has an underlying message of space exploration, right around the time of May 5, 1961 with Alan B. Shepard; Americas 1st man in space. Fantastic time to be a kid in America watching and living the Space Race.
The Post cereal ad encourages readers of Boy's Life, to get involved with model building possibly stimulating a career as an Naval Aviation Officer. What a great message.
And what more can be said of Big Daddy Roth that encouraged boys to build and paint models possibly leading to a career in auto mechanics or more. These were all great messages of encouragement to the youth. Maybe because of growing up during this era, I am biased at not fully seeing this type of message today.
Thanks for a great trip back to memorable times.

I don't remember if it was with the J.S.C.A., or not, but I did get a 3 speed "racing" bike by selling Christmas cards one year, way back in the early 70's.

Well I have to admit, I always wanted a pair of those x-ray specs. That would be one fun book reminiscing through all the past thoughts and wishes from our youth. Cool book.

Re: Vapor Trails of days gone by!!!
Wow! That ad from Junior Sales Club of America is a real blast from my Boy's Life past. Started my love of model aircraft with the "prize" of a Cox T28 and my entrepreneurial spirit with selling their Christmas cards door to door. My neighbors all must have hated themselves in August after buying a ton of cards in July when I started that darned thing up in the cul-de-sac. Day after day after day... I swear I heard cheering when I cracked it up, and swearing a few days later when I fired the Bee up in a freshly built Lil Satan.
Thanks for that!
And who among us didn't pine for those X Ray glasses as we passed through puberty? Anybody remember hot pants?
