Re: z-37 cmelak, rc electric to nitro conversion
Perhaps a TD .020 would be a good solution? Light, and very powerful.
Re: z-37 cmelak, rc electric to nitro conversion
Another thing to consider with smaller engines is smaller
Props. Which create much less prop wash over the control
Surfaces.
So nightmare scenario,-
Large plane which by virtue of small engine travels slowly
Through the air, without much prop wash = sluggish response
To controls as well as lacking fun factor.
IMO

Starting with the fact that I know NOTHING about electric motors, I read that a 100 watt lekkie is equal to an .049, no idea what the wattage of the original motor in this model was, but I'm sure someone here will know.

I have found .049's to have the around the same power as 400/450 size motors.

cool, well i had that airplane weighed at a lhs, it came in at 17.5 oz, i used futaba s3003 and a futaba fp-s148 servos, a futaba nr-4qb 600 mah battery, and a old ner-327x reciever. i know that these electronics are way over kill (all electronics weighed in at 7.50oz) good starting point, im going to get 8g servos, i think ill be in the 12-14oz range

I would use 9g servos, unless the 8g you are talking about have metal gears. Make sure they don't twitch/flutter!

The Tee Dee is about the best Cox at over 75 Watts Wilf.
I think the bees vary from 45 up to about 60.
I dout it was the sort of model anyone ever put at watt meter on but I could be wrong.

I heard the glow engine watts are somehow different to the lekkie watts.

It depends....
I use these in my .049 Cub. They are high torque.

Those servos are designed for lightweight park fliers. I would not use them.
