3D printing an old railway coach
A few years back my son-in-law and I took a trip to Cass West Virginia and rode a old Shay Locomotive pushing a coach up Cass mountain to visit a 1920's era logging operation.

Which stimulated my interest in logging locomotives, a special breed of Climaxes, Shays, and Heislers especially made for the operation, low speeds with lot's of grunt. Kicking around ebay I found this Heisler marked Cass Scenic Railway.

and needed a coach to make it complete. Which brought me to this, also on ebay.

Sellers description.
This is a custom designed unassembled HO scale excursion/passenger car kit that is modeled after the Cass Scenic Railroad excursion cars. No worries about microscopic parts, all parts are easy to handle and assemble using your favorite CA glue (super glue) and also comes complimentary with 2 of our custom designed Bettendorf trucks. The roof is modeled to be removable or you can permanently glue it into place. This allows ease of access for painting, placement of figures, and lighting if you choose to do so. This is a unique Railcar Kit is 100% our design and cannot be purchased anywhere else, except here! Once purchased, the passenger/excursion car will be 3D printed with our high resolution resin printer using Impact Resistant Engineering Grade Photopolymer Resin. Then Finally, Inspected and shipped Straight to you

Hi Eric, He says it takes about a week to print them up. I made an offer of $32.50 a few bucks off his ebay price and he accepted.
Think I will send it off to Levent to assemble and paint..........

Thinking like Mark will probably get the job. He customized a previous kit for me and did a good job.

My buddy Dan just finished up some old Ambroid train car kits. He still has some in the box. They were pretty cool. I think he said one of them even had a tube of Ambroid in the box.

Yeah, but I hedge my bet. Also picked up an already made one. Bachmann marketed these under various road names. Gives me - err Mark an example to follow.

Also bought a display case for it. 16" will hold both the coach and the loco. Going to try to elevate one end.

Got an undecorated example today. Advertised as "untested" on ebay. Put it on the track and it wouldn't move. Oh, oh. Gave it a nudge and off it went. Works great, just needed a little incentive.

Very neat and interesting. Never would have thought of resin printing one of those. Will be neat to see what you get and then the final product.

True to the sellers word, he prints these up as requested. Took awhile to get here. I would have a few made beforehand.
Nicely done, better detail than I would have guessed.

That should look like the Bachmann after assembly and painting. Does this chap make other coaches?

I don't think so Lieven

But he has sold 38 of the Cass open coaches.
