Almost "NEW" Enya .29-III Super Typhoon purchase (last week)

Almost "NEW" Enya .29-III Super Typhoon purchase (last week)
Acquired this Enya engine (Enya .29-III Super Typhoon with throttle valve) from a friend.
It has been in his collection for years and he made a custom wooden box for it as the original Enya box was in poor condition.
Included with it is a vintage "barrel" shape muffler from the early 70's.
My friend said that he has had this engine since about 1962.
It is in great shape. Nothing sticking and with a good quick flip, has a strong "pop" to it (with glow plug installed).

Nice acquisition, sosam117, don't see many Enya .29's these days, and an earlier square venturi throat one. Seems most common are the .19 with a jump to .35.
I gather that the uncompleted music wire throttle horn was because the standard digital servo wasn't common then, left up to the owner to complete.
It could be any mode of control: escapement, linear servo, rotary servo, galloping ghost actuator, etc. Motion of travel wasn't standardized yet.
Still, a nice find.
Only .29 I have in my collection is an NOS Duromatic McCoy .29 with venturi.

I would think this would've been the competitor for the OS MAX steelfin? Both engines are truly remarkable engines. I have one OS .29 and the ENYA.35 in this similar version but control line. I always wondered if the cases of these were magnesium. It certainly has that appearance. The quality of this stuff is amazing. It really makes you wonder. These are truly well engineered.

Only .29 I have in my collection is an NOS Duromatic McCoy .29 with venturi.
The previous owner said that he misplaced the square aluminum venturi intake for U/control (free flight).
With the straight venturi, you have to accurately measure your fuel so it would shut off after so many minutes.
With the engine I have, (Enya calls it a throttle valve), you could use the wire on the throttle valve to go to a timer and shut off the engine by closing off the venturi.
I know with the rear intake venturis; you use some type of plug to push into the venturi to plug up the intake and cut off the air coming in. (with a timer to activate the plunger)
On my free flight planes, I have a timer (Texas or Tatone timers) that pinch off the fuel line to stop the engine and the 2nd part of the timer pops up the tail (after a certain amount of time) to dethermalize (DT) the plane to bring it back down.
Thes old timers are getting harder to find now.
But the digital timers are much more accurate ---- when available (in stock) as not many places to purchase them from.
