Is This a Manufacture Date of My Cox Model?
Hi Everyone,
I have heard that a number in the bottom right corner of the Cox instruction manuals is the date of manufacture of the model. Or is it the date the instructions were printed? In my case the number is 5-62 (May-1962?) and it`s for a Cox Bendix Trophy Racer which were made in 1963 & 64` i believe? The number in question is right after "Made in USA" in the bottom right corner. Can anyone shed some light on the matter and many thanks.

Re: Is This a Manufacture Date of My Cox Model?
Shy of any other info, I've used the instructions print date for my Bee's. But some like Mark Boesen are a compendium of info if one needs or desires better precision.
There's also a book on Bees, can't recall the name, which seems to have quite a history and specifics on the various variants. Out of print, don't know if the proprietor plans on another run.
Wanted to add, a date of year prior to release, date would be when they did the instructions, which were then sent to a publisher to type set masters, then print.
Back then heard that they did these planes in the 10s of thousands each per year or more, really huge numbers unheard of today.
Larry Ranger, who worked on the Cox design team and now occasionally posts on Stunt Hangar would know more on the specifics, also @MudHen, who also worked for Cox.

Thanks for this info GallopingGhostler and i think you are a musician (sax x 4) if i`m correct? I`m a novice in this field but your education has really helped and i thank you for your time and expertise in helping me solve this delemma. Makes total sense of a date year prior to release would be the instuctions printing date and not the plane manufacture date and thanks for the connections to Mark Boesen, Larry Ranger & @MudHen. Not sure how to contact the first two but will search out @MudHen. Thanks again for your help here and very much appreciate your time.
