Looks like your "spray booth" is in HER kitchen to boot!
I hope you have a very understanding wife or you are in DEEP trouble!

I like it! A man after my own heart!
But be warned - paint can sometimes seep right through newspaper. Better to use polythene, if only underneath!

That would be why he did while the mistress was out.

I don't believe Rusty's "mistress" would be the problem. What about his wife?

That is what I meant.
Re: How do y'all like my makeshift painting booth
My plan was to leave nary a trace of my dubious activity. I did get a slight patch of spray that crept around a corner. I think I got it all off with some denatured alcohol before it dried.

Good luck getting rid of the odor. Women have a sense of smell that would rival a canine.
I got room on my couch if needed.

pretty cool! That gives me an idea...you could use the stove top and the overhead power vent is already there!
Re: How do y'all like my makeshift painting booth
Damn, dude, I didn't think of that!
Odor isn't a problem, the doors are open now, it was a small job and she's not usually a she devil anyway.

yep, then when she sees all the overspray in the OH vent filter you can deny it and say it's probably just colored that way cause it hadn't been cleaned in a while....but you better be ready to run!
Re: How do y'all like my makeshift painting booth
i remember waiting for the wife to go shopping before i sprayed a fuelage with a heavy coat of silver, for some reason i wanted to shoot it in the basement, anyway she came home early and the house was full of dope fumes, took along time to air out and for her to cool off.

When you say "outsiders" do you mean us single guys or people not involved in the hobby?

My wife thinks it funny that I complain about the funky smells I make more than she does...

Thanks Ron, if she kicked me that far I might have landed right on it. Whaddaya think the first thing she said when she hit the door was... Smells like fuel or something in here!. The only sensible thing I could do was to fess up and show her the beautiful job I had dome painting my rudder. Lying is not an option. I would probably have landed all the way over on Mudhen's couch.cribbs74 wrote:Good luck getting rid of the odor. Women have a sense of smell that would rival a canine.

And it does look pretty damn good too, doesn't it. I have the plane taped off for the red right now.
I left the heater on in the shop, so I have to go back out there, and I may or may not apply the red tonight... depends on how I feel when I do.

Re: How do y'all like my makeshift painting booth
Last year I had the whole dining room table covered with my fleet. She said she told me not to put those on the white tablecloth. But I don't think she really said that.WingingIt74 wrote:I have Cox engines all over the kitchen table... I'm surprised I haven't got yelled at much so far... usually I have them on the island
If we didn't have wives, I'm sure we'd be more miserable than we imagine.
There ya go, 24 hours to see mine, then I delete it.
Not bad for 55, eh:
