Not sure about the AMA designation, but it's Norvel based.

Probably a misprint.. I think it should be AME. NV Engines (formerly Norvel) currently lists AMD designations for some of their engines.. but this I believe is a classification. AME I believe was the actual name of the company when the engines were originally manufactured in Russia.

No, not a misprint. AMA is casted into the case on the opposite side. It has to do with the Cyrillic alphabet. No telling what the engine is . It could be a .049 or .061. Seeing the other side, the case is usually inked with .08 for .049 or 1.0 for .061. It's a pre -revlite Norvel with the epoxied in venturi. It could also be a Big Mig or a AME ported version. The best way to identify is to remove the plug and count the porting holes in the liner. 5 small ports for the Big Mig and 3 large ones for the AME. Ken
