Just damaged another crank, seized in the case. That makes three!

Re: Forum membership
Usualy means to much force was being manually applied.
Try a soak gun-cleaning solvent prior to applying any force. Apply small amount of force while working the crank in small increments one way and then the other. The crank may be bound by castor oil gum; many cranks are.

Re: Forum membership
It was running well, one of my best yet. I saw 19K on the tach and the engine froze, stopped dead. When I broke it down there was a black streak on the crank journal.

Engine I was trying to build for the Tach Race. Stock Black Widow crankcase with a KB crank.

Re: Forum membership
It sounds as though the fuel was light on lubrication.

I would say the fits were tighter than normal and you didn't have enough castor in it.
Re: Forum membership
Third broken crank in the same crankcase?

Re: Forum membership
No I stripped the threads on one, bent another polishing it in my dremmel when the crankpin snagged a wad of steel wool I was using. Steel wool explosion went everwhere lol. Hense my username. Fuel is 22% oil half castor half syn. Ready to through in the towel.

Re: Forum membership
Yeah, those Killer Bee cranks are softer metal to absorb the shock of the high compression, especially in diesels. It's easier to strip the prop threads on those.
