Lost my Flying Field Today.
Yesterday, I was at the schoolyard with my brother flying our small planes. We were finishing up when a lady came out and asked us if we knew this was private property. We said no, and she said we had to leave. We were not hurting anything, using any equipment, and there was nobody there with the exception of a few staff.
It was very convenient as it is only about 10 minutes away. No more flying my Cub.
The only other alternative is my club's field which is 45 minutes away.
Are schools not public property? We pay for it...

Teacher Broomhilda was probably grading a big pile of papers she didn't get graded during the week and you were bothering her,, how dare you!
Tell her she is on private property and needs to leave and that your mother and father pay for her wage.
Unfortunately it is property of the school district,,which is usually property of the county, so on and so fourth.
Sorry to hear that MFD.

Re: Lost my Flying Field Today.
I was told by an officer of Roseville's finest that I was not allowed to drive my Traxxas T-Maxx 3.3 around in the park just a few blocks away. I said "why not?, its not causing any harm" He just replied with a "it falls under gas/electric powered equipment and plus its noisy". I wasn't going to argue with the cop so I just picked it up and tossed it into the Jeep.
Re: Lost my Flying Field Today.
I think I'd have issues with the school, assuming it’s a public school. If it’s a public school, it's really not private property per say, but, it's hard to argue with someone that might (or might not) have authority. I've seen that happen, where the janitor or the 5th grade English teacher takes it upon themselves to establish policy.
Try to find a sympathetic teacher or someone who knows someone from the school board or the superintendents office, who can help you get permission to fly there. If they throw the old liability thing at you tell them you will bring in a copy of your parents home owners/renters insurance policy, which really would cover any accident. You probably should get a parent/adult involved at this point.
That or just keep flying there till they chase you off again....just kidding!
Remember..."It's far easier to ask for forgiveness, then it is permission."

Re: Lost my Flying Field Today.
Man that stinks. Too bad you dont have a closer club field. The club I belong to has 2 seperate fields. One for electric and sailplanes at a sod farm. Another for gas/glow planes on top of an old garbage dump. Plus the fact my dad has 400 acers of farmland I can fly on makes me realize how fortunate I am to have multiple flying sites.

Re: Lost my Flying Field Today.
If it IS a public school, it might be worth the effort of attending a school board meeting, and seeing if they would make time for you request the use of field when nothing else is happening out there.
Maybe your folks could find out who the secretary is and see if you could talk to the superintendent. I think it's an incredible shame to deny a young man the use of an otherwise public property.

Re: Lost my Flying Field Today.
Do you attend that school?
I will always continue to use my nitro rc cars and glow powered planes in parks and school yards.
They can tell me to leave.
I can go to the cafe for a cup of coffee and when they have left go back out because the park patrol say they don't care and the police do not hang around for more than 10 min.

Re: Lost my Flying Field Today.
I do not attend this school.
I do have insurance under the AMA if anything were to happen. (which I cannot imagine anything would)
We will try to contact the school board.
