Re: Does anyone have any experience with a Cox Mantis?
I flew it today! It was my first time flying a glow plane in over three years. The plane flew very well. It is definitely a trainer type of plane but it will loop and roll and stay inverted for a few seconds. I was flying in a rather stiff breeze and was amused watching the plane go backwards as it climbed. The .049 medallion was plenty of power. Unfortunately, the throttle that worked so beautifully on the bench was a huge disappointment in the air. I think I am going to remove the throttle and install a pressure tapped back plate to assure positive fuel delivery throughout the flight. This will require me to mount the engine on a beam mount but between that and removing the throttle servo I may be able to remove a little nose weight. Over all, I think this is a great little plane.

Maybe I will put a dieselized .049 R/C Medallion in it and see how that works. It could be really interesting.

Cool deal fit90 , good to hear you got her in the air and had some fun !! The wind has been rather crazy around here also . What prop are you using on the med. ? Are you thinking with the diesel and bigger prop. (less RPM) it will go faster or you looking for better performance? Thanks for the report (what no video) lol getback

Sorry, no video. Right now I have an APC 5.7x3 on the medallion. If I go with a dieselized medallion I will try a 7x5 or a 7x6, if I can find one. The plane is plenty fast with its current set up. I am looking for a little more pulling power.
