Had some realloy good luck!
I had some really good luck today! I have a Harrier 3-D, .46 size model that has been hanging from my garage ceiling for nearly four years. It is powered by an O.S. pumped .90 belch fire four stroke. I was worried that the diaphragm in the pump had dried out from inactivity. So, I took it down, put a little fuel in it, pulled it through several times by hand, said a prayer, hooked up the battery and hit it with a starter. BAM!! It fired right up and ran like a champ!!! Except for one damaged servo, the plane is in great shape. It looks like I have another glow model to play with at the field. From what I have been told, I will be an odd duck with glow powered planes. Guess I 'll just have to show my club mates what it's like to fly a plane that has a heart and soul.

Re: Had some realloy good luck!
I got another nice surprise just a while ago. I was looking for the engine I will be using on my next project, a Saito FA-65, and when I found it it was attached to an aluminum iso mount and had a Perry pump mounted to it. It would be out of this world cool if the pump works. The plane part of the project is a Great Planes Venus ARF. It is a .40 size pattern type plane. It has been camping out in the attic for several years but looks to be in great shape.

Cool Been a while since i've heard of the old backwards rocker OS FS90 (which looks like an Enya fourstroke). Usually the pumps store fine what kills them is when people pass a petroleum based after run oil through them which destroys the silicone parts in the pump. The fuel injected YS engines are the same way, it's a big no no to use after run oil in a YS engine due to the injector/regulator. Glad to hear you got er running! The Saito FA65 is a great engine too. I have the stump puller one (FA91S)In an ACE Bingo. (Bandit)

Perry pumped Enya .61. 5 hours left. If I'm going to bid it will have to be soon.

Eric,
"belch fire" is a term an enine reviewer in a magazine used to use to describe some engine that was so powerful that it belched fire much like a wwII fighter engine or a dragon. I have shamelessly stolen it because of the images it conjurs up in my mind. The speed bees are good little engines. This one has had the intake and NVA replaced. I am having fuel flow issues with this engine on this plane. If I can't get it sorted out soon I will have to switch engines or tap this engine's crank case to pressurize the fuel tank.
Bob,
I have never used that particular perry pump before but I have been told by people that have that it is a great unit. Good luck. If you win I would love to hear how that set up works.

Now that is cool. The Sky Raiders and B-36 bombers were always my favorite to watch start. Something about a radial spewing smoke and fire as individual cylinders fire, or not. Gotta love the sound of round, as well. I also love the smell. But, I have been told that that is an acquired taste.

Hi, I did win that auction and for less than my proxy bid, free shipping too.
I never have used that pump either and am eager to find out how well they work. I will let you know.

Awesome Bob! I hope it works well and the engine is a good runner and the whole package works well together.

It is a trait of the Rolls Royce Merlin engines.
I love watching these. That is a beautiful late model spitfire. I hope you see more of them in England that we do in the U.S. I especially love that moment during start up when the prime is burning off and the mixture is brought to full rich. This can make for a little excitement with a heavy handed pilot.
