Purple Plane Factory documents the RWYB entry.

Purple Plane Factory documents the RWYB entry.
I thought it would be easier to put the efforts of the Run What Ya Brung racing airplane into one post, than to try finding the separate posts from all over the Cox Engine Forum site. I think that I stuck them to several different threads.
Now, let's see if I am able to collect them, and get them to stick here.

Is that a Cox International limited production Purple Python? Looks like one except for the black case.
If it will be as fast as it looks you may become very dizzy.
Very nice.

Re: Purple Plane Factory documents the RWYB entry.
Hi Guys!
Thanks for looking! All of the engines are mine. One is a Black Widow. The Purple one was gifted to me by Cribbs74, which he won in a Tach Race a few years back. I believe it was the 1st purple engine made, and it was run in the same contest, and placed 5th. It did not have a name, at that time.
The engine with the red backplate is the prize from EX Model Engines, for the Inaugural Flight Time contest. Two were produced for the prizes, and Ian won the other one. They too, were unnamed at the time.

Re: Purple Plane Factory documents the RWYB entry.
Very radical airplane Doug! I can't say for sure.. but I think that you can officially fly that on 35' lines.. (70' dia. circle) for this contest. Jim Roselle (jpvelo) had amended the rules at some point... to reflect that. The 1st CEF Speed Contest's line-length was 42'..... which proved very challenging to get a model in the air; especially for those of us who were novices.
For all I know; the line-length may not even matter.. as long as the length is "stated".. in order to accurately calculate the speed of the model.

Re: Purple Plane Factory documents the RWYB entry.
Uh-Oh! I just finished cutting my 35' lines down to 32', because I thought that is what was posted for non-TD engines. I can whip up another set of 35' lines, if I have to.
Also, I think the Tach Race that the Purple Engine was a contestant, and a prize, was earlier than 2017.

I think 32' is correct for reedies. I had to make a set for the contest. 42' for the rotary valves. Doesn't really say for a .15 or .09 size. I guess no one really runs theirs anyway. There is the chart for any line length no matter what.

IT FLEW!
Whoa, freakin' ZOOM! I was able to fly the Purple RWYB plane, Friday evening. It surprised me on take - off, when it had a tendency to come into the center of the circle, rather than stay out, so I had to run back to keep tension on the lines. After it was airborne, and spinning me around, line tension was good, and control was easy to maintain. This thing is going to be a contender for the prize! No video was attempted, as this was just a "proof of concept", getting- to-know- you" flight. Ha ha- and 32' lines: Puh-leeze! If I could be certain the plane would stay out during take - off, longer lines would be great! Right now, this mean machine is a certified "SPIN DIZZY" ! Video when the weather is cooperative, again. Watch out!

More Flights
Again, I flew the Purple Plane Factory's RWYB airplane tonight. It does fly very well, but when I get a video of the attempt, I get a crummy engine run. Bummer. If you're interested to see an attempt, I will try to post it on YouTube. I'll report back here, if I was able to get the video to stick.

RWYB Video Attempt: NOT OFFICIAL ENTRY!
The very short video stuck to YouTube. It seems to be found by searching for: Doug Burright. There are only three videos there, so it should be easy to see it. THANKS!

R.W.Y.B Documentation
This bit of a post shows the pieces of the plane, drawn onto the wood, prior to cutting them out. Next, are some engine choices, and the assembled model before the finish of colored dope was applied. Finally, the completed airplane, ready for flight.
Thank you for your consideration.
GUS.

49.6 mph using 32 ft. lines @ 2.76 sec. for "the" lap. I guess that is F2 1/2A speed.

Re: Purple Plane Factory documents the RWYB entry.
Here is the documentation of the plane that I built for the RWYB event. I didn't want it to be lost in the race for the remaining 20% of the score. Here goes!
