Re: Engine starter battery box
Those "D" size battery boxes are a great idea, and so cheap. I'm going to get a couple. I won't bother with the AA batteries in the adaptor case, just use D size Alkalines. Two cheap "D" size wired together and taped up have lasted me a real long time.
And hey, when the batteries get too flat in parallel I can swap the boxes around and put them in series to get a final few starts from them.![Thumbs Up](/users/3015/29/34/60/smiles/1541798026.gif)

Careful with series batteries, it can burn off the filament in the engine head if over 1.5 volts.

Well aware of that. I was young and stupid once (like most of us) and impatiently tried to start a stubborne engine with a little extra juice.
I would only do it to get the last from my batteries once they were too flat to work in parallel. Just unclip the boxes from the side-by-side position and connect them end-to-end, and your two half flat (.75 V) batteries make 1.5 Volts. Just trying to be a penny-pincher.

Rechargeable battery has 1.2 volt compare to normal single use battery of 1.5 volt.
The plus point for rechargeable battery is less internal resistance so it can produce higher current / amperage in short period.
It won't last long compare to D size normal battery, any way we can recharge several time.

Re: Engine starter battery box
I had thought of using a triple case that would use C cells, and stretching the springs to use the sub C cells. I guess it would be best to rearrange the cells to charge them. Can't forget to put them back to parallel before use. I still use the panel, but sometimes it is nice to have a more portable unit for control line stuff.
