New foot operated model quick release
After reading the write up about the quick release I thought what a great idea and I sure appreciate your showing what you came up with. My problem is we have a grass field and the Streaker is difficult to release in the grass when I'm all by myself. As great as the design shown with the pin being released by yanking on a cord I felt ion my case it would be better if I was just able to step on a foot release enabling me to keep both hands on the transmitter. So today I designed a foot operated release and just wanted to share it with you. If anyone would like a dimensional drawing I would draw one up. The following is what I came up with.

New foot operated model quick release
Thank you. As an engineer (retired) I enjoy designing and fabricating things like that especially when I have had trouble at the flying site flying the 1/2A Streaker when I'm the only one around. I have to give credit to the members posting a model release system; a wonderful idea. I only wanted to improve on their design that would work best for me. I have found it difficult to carry a model out for takeoff and hold the transmitter at the same time. If I wasn't so old (83) I probably wouldn't have had the problem when I was 38. I just pretend somebody got the numbers backwards. I still feel like I'm 38. Flying the 1/2A models is a blast and I feel it will be much more fun with the new release system.

Self launching tip for lone fliers
A self-launching tip from my CL past in the 70's. If not for large planes, at least for those powered by 049-s can be used safely..
All it takes is a peg anchored in the ground, on the tip of which the launching string tied to a small ring is fixed. The string is looped around the horizontal stab and it's other end is anchored. With a full- up (radio) command on the elevator, the ring will slip off the peg tip and release the plane.
Sorry for the poor sketch, I think it explains the solution, anyway..
