That number is the amount of ft/lbs it’s going to take to turn it over.

I'm not sure of his name but he has a bunch of stuff for sale. I like the SIG Mustang and the Evolution engine.

Nice find, Bob, it should make for a very interesting yet excellent restoration story.
I did a similar restoration to an old early 1970's K&B .35 Stallion several years ago.
Rest of story: CEF Non-Cox Engines: K&B .35 Stallion Acquisition
These type stories like many you have posted, Bob, show that in the master's hands, one can indeed make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
(Please note, the green head was my touch to a "non-historic" restoration. K&B made no green head Stallions like they did with their Torpedoes. )

Yep, that's Curtis. He has been selling stuff since Morrie Leventhal's old KAPA (Kits and Plans Antiquitous) newsletter days in the 90s.

Curtis is a good guy, who is able to find the wildest, and most obscure things you never thought you would see, but he knows his prices...

Well they're certainly going to be a challenge! Better in your hands than mine Bob. More chance that they'll end up done than with my "one-day" stance. I've lost count of my "to-do" list

Re: "Won" that K&B Infant Rod..........
Well. ya made me dig out mine. One of the few that I left as received. I don't think I even checked the glow plug.
Tool marks, but smooth with good compression. Tight little thing with no slop in the crank, and a needle with a good solid feel. I could remove the fuel tank but worry about the gaskets. Running it may make me clean it cosmetically but think I will wait for the new arrival.
Could be magnesium but I'm thinking some aluminum alloy. Is there some sort of test to be sure?

Magnesium is very flammable. Scrape some shavings off and see if it ignites. Personally I would just put the case in a tumbler with some polishing grit.

Way to go and a nice score. I also feel that once in your hands that at least one will run again!

Re: "Won" that K&B Infant Rod..........
Just a little suggestion, but I have found that simply light filing off the burrs, particularly on the underside and upper side of the aluminum fins, and may be the steel fins (a little bluing touch up will clean it up), will make the tool marks less impressionable/noticeable.
This squishing by a set of teeth on combination pliers makes the squished part wider. Filing narrows it down so it is less noticeable. I did that to a few of my Internet auction purchases, and was surprised what a difference it made.
You definitely have a prized, jewel of an engine there.

I looked it up in the book. Its bar stock. I got it confused with another engine.

Prophecy of doom Eric.
Got the Infants today. The intake on the complete one was eaten away. I turned the needle and it just crumbled. I will be able to make one complete engine. No tool marks and the pistons and cylinders are fine, better than the K&B that I already have. I think some swapping will be going on. The glow plug looks different from my existing one. The plug is good. I think I have to tap it down and out to remove it.
Got to remove the screw-on rear case covers, hate that, always an effort. Heat (hence the metal propeller) and oil freed the cranks and pistons.

Re: "Won" that K&B Infant Rod..........
Fooled around a little more with the K&B.
Moved the fuel tank over to the .030 from the .020. Smaller tank (see the top of the proper tank) but it will do to run if I can find the proper glow plug. If anyone knows anything about these plugs, please fill me in.
Despite my best efforts, heat/oil I broke off the fuel tanks stud in the case, no matter with the ate up intake/NVA it was toast anyway. A 3/48 up through the bottom works to attach it.
Went looking for more Infants, didn't find any but seller took my low-ball offer on this BIN K&B .049. Had to have the set.

Good luck Bob. I came up blank with one for my .035 Jr. P.A.L. products did an accurate repro of the Infant, including plug. Apparently parts were interchangeable between the P.A.L. and the original. I did contact them about parts for the .035 but they never serviced them. Not sure if they're still around.
Rod.

Re: "Won" that K&B Infant Rod..........
Thanks Rod, wondering if mine is a .030 or a .035?
Discovered that the glow plug was bad, so throwing caution to the wind I just started messing with the .020.
I would think that a good machinist could turn an intake for it and insert a NVA. The head came right off but I had to use buffered plyers to remove the cylinder. Cleaned up both on the drill press and re-blued the cylinder. Has great compression but no fire. Doubt that I will ever find a plug for it.
Still plugging away on my ground tether Cox .010. Almost done.

Bob, that .020 cleaned up quite well, considering that you started with. Regarding the head, was that some type of special holder that clamped down a button type glow plug element? It is a shame that there is no replacement head or replacement head for a standard glow plug.
