Robart connectors glow proof?

Re: Robart connectors glow proof?
Wow, I have been looking for these fittings, do you have a link to the source? I think most plastics will endure contact with glow fuel...some brittle materials like the stem of cotton ear buds, made recently from more environment friendly plastic, was found to soften...

I have used these fittings for balloon and bladder tanks up to 35% nitro. Never seemed to have a problem.

That is what they are made for, so I guess they work. Here is another company that makes them, assuming they are still in business. Fourmost also had a nice streamlined motor mount for TDs and .40 size motors. https://www.fourmostproducts.com/our-products/fuel-fittings/

Re: Robart connectors glow proof?
These are Robart brand for air retracts..when I subjected one of the black ones to a loop of fuel tube filled completely with 35% glow it turned what was in the tube black after 6 hrs..and the odd thing being a sealed loop was the air that appeared..more than half the fuel disappeared..not leaked..absorbed? Into the plastic? Odd.

Re: Robart connectors glow proof?
Hi mich,
Do they soften with acetone?
If so, probably ABS and not good for raw fuel.
There was a cool article in a 70s era RCM mag about identifying types of plastics.
Including burning slivers to see what colour the flame was...
Miss my old RCM mags,
Dave

Well they didn't become one with their acetone solution and turn to dope..stayed hard after hours immersed..guess they're good to go..thanks for the litmus test Dave!
