I need some help. 1970s cox jeep. New reed valve, new glow head. All internals cleaned. New fuel. D battery box glow plug starter.
When i prime it, i get a second of ignition then stops. Every prime i get a ignition. No mater how much i close or open the air valve i can't get it started. Any tips to get it running?

Fuel delivery problem. Spray bar hole plugged?. Its easy to check with a fuel bulb or syringe..hook up to the fuel nipple..open up the needle a couple turns, and squeeze fuel in to the venturi no fuel, its plugged..or the pickup in the tank could be gummed up..Or..I guess a messed up reed could keep it from running but you say its new? No little creases in the reed? Spins free under the retainer when you turn it with a toothpick? I really think fuel delivery though..others will be along soon...

When you put the reed retainer spring back in the straight part pointed AWAY from the reed?
If the spring is installed upside down it can keep the reed pressed closed.
And yes flush all the fuel lines and even would unscrew the needle and flush the spraybar from that top side too,
Also flush it from the normal side without the needle but then also put your finger over the top needle hole to force the fuel out of the little hole.
Then make sure you can suck fuel from the fuel tank so be sure that is not blocked.
Once all is open whipe off any fuel tat got on the model before you try to start.
