Extending engine bearers? Empty Extending engine bearers?

I'm looking for ideas from our members who fly larger engines.
I decided to pull my old Black Ghost combat model (UK members may know the model) out of retirement and fit my PAW 19, which has yet to fly since I obtained it from Indra.
However, I soon realised a fairly major problem......

Extending engine bearers? Nose_u10

As you will see the engine bearers (origionally holding an Enya 15) are too short for the PAW.
I am open to ideas as to how to lengthen the bearers, keeping in mind that.. I don't really want to cut the existing ones out, I want to avoid any lengthening of the nose if I can, the PAW is a heavy engine and the CG would end up on the leading edge if I didn't add tail weight (which I do not want to do!)
There isn't room for the obvious alloy mounting plate, and cutting off the bearers and screwing a mount to the nose is out because the tank is right up against the firewall!
I suppose the obvious answer is "Don't fit that engine to that model!"

I never have simple problems!

Any brilliant ideas would be VERY welcome!

I suppose that two extra holes, drilled in the engine's mounting flange, WOULD NOT be an option????

Column A: Do not fit this engine to this plane. Column B: Hack up plane. Please chose one from column A or Column B.... Huh...

Extending engine bearers? Quick_10

I was in a hurry so I just did this quick. You get what I mean right? Just cut some metal bars/plates that are about the same size of the beams on the engine and just tighten them up on the other side of the mount.

Now, that would work! why didn't I think of that? I was stuck on the idea of plates on the other side of the bearers, but discounted that because it would push the engine off the centreline.

Many thanks! There is no doubt that the the motto of this forum should be...........

I agree with Jacob.
In our club trainer there is a very cheap and extremely
Nasty alu mount that works along these lines.
I say cheap and nasty but it works and has shrugged off
Lots of attempts to break it.

Good to see that PAW sitting in a plane!

Is this a Balsa model?

If so it's quite simple, sink the firewall or just cut a hole in existing firewall the diameter of the rear of the crankcase. We are only talking a half a centimeter here. You have enough space on the bearer. It's the crankcase that's in the way.

Being the builder you are, you can surely make it look pretty.

Well, I shoehorned the PAW in.......

Extending engine bearers? Mount_10
Extending engine bearers? Mount_11

The rear holes in the plates are tapped to take the bolts, then nuts added for security.

Just need some flying weather, and the old girl can start circling again (probably considerably faster than last time!)
