(Wanted) TD 010 starter spring
I'm finding my much loved and used TD 010 harder and harder to hand start-- it never had a spring (Wasn't new when I got it) and I don't want to use a mechanical starter--- I have an 020 which has been abused with one of those-- not by me I hasten to add---
Has someone got a spare useable spring? Your reasonable price paid----- my finger is wearing out!
Thanks

Re: (Wanted) TD 010 starter spring
I think I already saw some home made spring starters, but I don't really know how it's made Maybe with some special wire...

spireman:
Be aware that the TD .010 does NOT have a plastic cam spring plate as do the other small Coxes.

I believe it is thin music wire then heated there is am engine called the nano and on the engine plans there are instructions on how to make a spring starter (the engine is 0.006cuin)
Re: (Wanted) TD 010 starter spring
Glad we could help spireman!
The 010 springs were made from a .024 wire (I believe that is 10 gauge). You could use a stainless steel wire or zinc plated would work nicely as well.

If you chose to make your own spring I suggest winding the wire around a wooden dowel of the appropriate diameter.
Since I have a spring (NFS) for the Cox TD .010 I could shoot you the number of wraps and other details you might desire.
Lemme know.

What's NFS ? Did you mean nos or was NFS a company.
Re: (Wanted) TD 010 starter spring
nitro: NFS is marketing jargon for: not for sale; OBO = or best offer; NIB = new in box etc.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
