Tach race prizes and accessories

So, if we win anything, we can bask in the "glory" of such but, of course, would forfeit any prize; which would then be allocated to the next in standing.

Wow I'm super bummed about that... I've never entered a tach race before and was really looking forward to my first one, since I just missed it last year.

So you are saying my options are:
(1) drive for 2 hours, get a hotel room, food and only enter just for bragging rights
(2) not help and stay home, mail my engine in
(3) stay home, not enter, work on the jeep and use the money I saved to go to E-Fest

What about my son Brandon... I assume he couldn't enter his engines either... since he would be with me?

I am OK with Travis entering the race as long as he doesn't needle or assist running the engine(s) he has entered. His sons entries are really not an issue, but it would be best if dad didn't run those either.

That's not to say we don't trust you Travis cause we do, it just takes the unknown factor out of the equation should you win. And with that Killer Widow you just may do that.

If Kim acts as the CD in a non biased capacity I see no issue with Travis assisting and helping mount engines, write numbers, fuel engines etc.

Just my thoughts, but as always majority rules.

Na you didn't tick me off, the prizes are just an added bonus. I can easily record each engines performance and post on youtube, to keep things fair. I would like for both of us to be able to enter, if we wanted to. I'm sure we could work something out, just wanting to keep it fair and open to everyone. I don't see why a sponsor couldn't win either, it's all about having fun.

My thoughts were to prep the engines and do a warm up run per engine, and have you actually do the tach race. I still want to enter to win... the thought of not being able to, just took the wind out of my sails as I've been looking forward to it all year.

Sounds good, and sponsors CAN win...both Bernie and Matt requested to have the prizes passed on to their fellow competitors in case they did.

Judges entering contests are a delicate issue due to potential conflict of interest. However, in this case, IMHO if Travis takes a step back when it's his engines' turn, I dont see why he should not be able to compete. And, of course, he should not be the one running his son's engine.

We are all in this for the fun and, in such spirit, should approach the whole show in that fashion.

I really appreciate you helping Kim, I'm not sure of the turnout, but with the extra classes it definitely will go faster with two people helping.

I'd like to clarify the way I see the contest run: No engines 'warmed up', they get bolted on to a mount, fueled up prior to start and started. Only the CD (Kim) will set the needle and tach the engines, that way it’s the same for all of them and not one persons readings compared to another. The idea of this contest is to run every engine the same and to reduce or eliminate any and all variables as possible.

I agree, everyone needles and judges things differently. Consistency is of great importance when dealing with these inconsistent little beasts. Mine ran faster on its cold start anyway.
