Re: What 049 should I get for the Daddy-O?
That Daddy-O has some nice lines to it. I will keep that one in the back of my mind for a future build. Anyway, it would be a shame to cut a hole in that cowl but, I suppose the golden bee head sticking out would look just as good! If you went with an upside down mount there be enough room? Also you could do a horizontal mount as that would look good as well. Good luck with that. Nice build and very impressive!

But that would look un even.
But inverted you risk damaging the engine in the event of a crash.
Re: What 049 should I get for the Daddy-O?
I was thinking of mounting it inverted so that I wouldn't slime the cockpit. Although I don't know if the engine would get enough cooling though if it's tucked away in the cowl.

Good you will have a nice plane then.

Uneven yes, unless you could afford the weight of a dummy cylinder. If the crash was substantial enough to damage the engine then the rest of the plane would be toast anyway.
If you want to keep the castor out of the cockpit then inverted or horizontal is your best bet. If inverted you would have to expose the fins for cooling but a horizontal would be easy to expose them. You could use a dummy cylinder (cylinder only) for symmetry if you think it could handle the extra nose weight.
Just a thought......

The dummy thing is a good idea.
Also it would be more awkward to start inverted so I think horizontal with a dummy cylinder would be best.

You mean one of these?

I bought one from there awhile back, thinking that it may come in handy.

Which way does it mount? I assume the U-shield is facing away from the cylinder.

Yes then the "goo" is collected and just run off without going all over the plane.
Re: What 049 should I get for the Daddy-O?
It fits between the crankcase and backplate/tank. The OEM Cox mufflers are excellent at doing this, but You can't use a throttle ring too.
Here is a picture from Jacob's site.

Re: What 049 should I get for the Daddy-O?
Sure that with a throttle ring you won't need it so much.
Or you could get a throttle muffler to redirect the flow of exhaust.

Re: What 049 should I get for the Daddy-O?
Yes you can get an rc bee cheap enough so if you see one maybe get it to use on this.
why not a teedee??
Throttled of course, but they are always a good option and go for reasonable prices these days

Oh sure, start changing things on me after I bought the Golden Bee. I don't even have it in my hands yet...
