My wife has two artifical hips one of which her body rejected. Her orhpedic surgeon removed the metal artifical hip, repaired the damage and replaced the articifial hip with another of different composition.

All this has been a tremendous strain on both of us and I having been doing everything that I can to assist her in her recovery from this second surgery

So my Chris-Craft "Barrel-Back" sits awaiting the mahogany planking and probably will for another couple of months until she recovers.

Considering the most recent hip surgery was her THIRD such operation, her good spirits are difficult to maintain no matter what I do.

Hi Dave, I hope your wife feels better soon. She's fortunate to have a good husband to take care of her.. I'm sure she knows that. You'll both get to the other side of this.. and when that time comes; her increased mobility will be well worth this time spent in recovery/rehabilitation.

Thank you for your kind words Roddie. They mean an awfully lot at this time of stress. Both my wife and I who are in our mid-seventies are in relativly good heath otherwise. We don't have any terminal health problems thank God.

Neither of us ever took up smoking, carry excessive weight or drink beyond the occasional glass of wine or a Martini.

We MUST develop an excercise routine and stick to it however.

Sounds like a good plan. Being prematurely arthritic, I've learned that making yourself keep moving is the only way to keep moving. That'll make sense to most folks sooner or later.

Wow SD, when you said third I gasped as I need a hip surgery myself , but just keep on at the speed I can handle and endure the pain. Wishing her a good recovery and this to be a lasting replacement . Keep your senses and love in the family . Eric

Dave -
I hope your wife rebounds quickly from her last surgery. As the years pass, our parts, unfortunately, deteriorate either from aging or disease. We are lucky that advances in medicine have at least provided some remedies for many aliments that otherwise would have seriously reduced our quality of life.

Thank you all for the kind notes.

Just returned from a visit to my wife's osteopaetic surgeon and the news is not good as my wife will likely walk with a distinct limp the rest of her life as too much bone damage ocurred.

But life goes on regardless.

Both my wife and I are feeling pretty powerless at this point as we both have seeming ENDLESS medical appointments. Just sitting waiting to be called in to be seen is a drag.

But. hey, this is America and for that we are blessed. Plus we have lots of support from our family and friends. sunny
