They go missing. Tiny ones must have feet, both machine screws and nuts.

I have a bunch, 98% are 1" and 1 /1/2" long and I'm always cutting them to length and dressing the bitter end. No more! Got on-line yesterday and ordered every length and head shape used in this hobby. Didn't even fool with McMaster/Carr or the Nut/Bolt factory. Assortments and loose. $3.95 per 100. Pretty cheap but I probably could have done better. Doesn't matter, I'm set for the duration.

Good to have Robert.. I'm an advocate for being well stocked with machine-screws. When things were made to last; they were put together using them.. nuff said about that..

Oh and yes.. Babe Bee .049 the Cox .049/Bee engines use 2-56 machine screws to hold their back-ends on... Let's not count the different lengths/head-styles of 2-56 screws associated with those engines...

The "Fillister-head" screws are a good example of the quality-engineering that went into the Cox engines.. early-on.

Yes, Three different assortments, plus bulk (100 ea.) in these sizes 1/4", 5/16", 1/2" and 1" from Orchodsound electronics.  Plus whenever I order from Bernie or Matt I always add case screws for the different engines.  They package them so well and fit perfectly.  I just got sick of modifying them.

I use them mostly for engine mount screws, but also for other things.

Glad to help Kim!!!  Smile Smile

2/56's were lacking in my inventory of nuts and bolts.  No more hunting and picking cutting and modifing.  Some will be here by friday.

I love assortments, everything but 2/56's. There is even a box of #5's in there.

#5? You found #5, Bob? I need to check BoltMonster.com to see if they have #5...and #3 (engine mounts).

I've eyeballed the #2 set on the 'Bay before. Buying that way before for me in trouble with my bike work. Sometimes the vendors sell really soft fasteners. I learned to not trust them for suspension and engine stuff. I need to relax and know that these smaller fasteners are responsible for holding 1/3lb-1/2lb planes and not vehicles responsible for carrying life and limb at speed.

Well that was fast. Still two more assortments coming. Vivian Leigh in "Gone With The Wind" "As God is my witness I will never be hungry (without 2/56's) again." Smile Smile Smile

BTW, if your buying, look for slotted Fillister heads.  The Phillips heads just do not provide for the proper torque necessary to tighten these. The Fillister heads better fit the case mounts on Cox engines.
