Saturday Fun Fly, Harrah OK
Had a great time this past Saturday, A couple of Gluedobbers came down from Tulsa (Joe Gilbert and De Hill) and we had is a good time flying and eating Burgers and Dogs. Also in attendance was our local boys so there was a lot of burnt castor slinging.
I spent the entire day shaking off the cobwebs of inactivity, I was glad to find out that even after 4 months without flying I was able to still fly. Spent most my time just standing still and doing inverted pullouts from wingovers, It's a pretty boring stunt although it looks pretty and it allows you to stand in one spot and just pivot at the hips. I also worked on my achilles heel also known as an inside square loop. I can nearly do the whole pattern but my squares suck bad. More time is needed I suppose and I would probably at least get the pattern points.
All in all it was a good time and I was pumped the entire evening. I was also gifted a battle weary Jetco Shark .15. I patched the holes in the tissue with new tissue and dope, couldn't match the paint though. If it flys well I will redo the paint work. I am going with a Fox .15 BB on it as that's what fit the pre-existing holes.
I also made a deal to pick up a very nice Saturn with a RoJett .61 in the nose. Gorgeous plane and priced right here are a couple pics of it.
Anyway just thought I would share some of the good time. No Cox related stuff...sorry

Always nice to read about good times with friends and airplanes
You're right, that Saturn IS a gorgeous airplane! Is it silk covered? And the Shark, with all its battle scars, is rather charming too Nice scores both of them.

none the less it's all about having fun! i like the battle scars on the shark and that Saturn is a one pretty craft! i am so itching to get back to flying something that will stunt.
flying inverted was the only thing i had problems with as a kid. i would get too excited coming out of a wingover inverted and would end up putting her into the ground LOL!
even running some laps and thinking about it, my reaction was always wrong for some reason.

That's great, I'm glad you got out for some flying. That's a pretty circle y'all have. Four months is a lot of cobwebs. I like the Shark and agree with Kari and Roger, the scars give it character, so I say just fly it and have fun.
Good idea doing repetitive reverse wingovers. I know you had a little problem with that maneuver since the disappointing incident at the contest last year. I need to get some reps on a couple too. Funny, but for me some of the ones I fly the ugliest aren't necessarily the most scary or complex.
I will file my Sunday flight report tonight. It's been one month for me and I had some cobwebs too.

Kari,
It appears it's coated in red dope with clear film over that. It's a neat effect.
Eric, I'll post a report after I fly it.
Rusty, practice makes perfect as they say. I've seen a lot of the top dogs do repetitive stunts, so I thought I would give it a whirl.
Roger, it's funny as I am able to do stunts from the Intermediate pattern, but the stupid square loop really gives me fits. I screw it up when I flip it on it's back and I end up doing a "D" instead of a []...
I can do outside squares ok though, I am almost sure it's a handle position issue as I fly inverted with the handle cocked and my palm facing up. Inside squares I have to transition my handle position, but outsides my handle stays in one spot.
