I think this has been my biggest accomplishment for this project.  It is a Valentine Speed Bee wit a few changes.  The disc pin has been removed and re-installed using red Loctite, a starter spring has been installed, a merlin style clamp and plug is installed with three head gaskets and the NVA/venturi has been removed and replaced with one made of brass tubing and a new NVA.  The new venturi has a larger over all diameter and is fitted with a Texas Timers fine thread needle valve.  The engine is a stronger runner and still retains all the steady, dependable running qualities of the original configuration.  unfortunately, it now gulps fuel at a rate of almost an ounce in three minutes.

At this point it is 15.2 ounces. The elevator and rudder still need to be covered and installed, the ailerons still need covering, the elevator push rod needs to be installed and the cowl needs to be installed. I would guess the unfueled finish weight would be in the 17 ounce ball park, just a guess.

Ace foam wing airplanes are real porkers. But, they are still pretty good fliers.

I'm guessing at the wing area, but aren't you pretty much at the limit of wing loading for a .049 engine and plane of that size? I always tried to go with 8 to 12 ounces for a stunt airplane and 12 to 16 ounces for a floater. More ounces for a glider with large wing and engine pod.
   I personally liked the foam wings and have used them on several gliders and .049 stunt planes like an old Ace 1/2 A stunt plane who's name I can't remember. The thing I liked most was the tuffness of the wing. I built a 30 inch wingspan glider in a box using a cox foam wing set. The parts all came apart and fit inside a box small enough for my travelling suitcase. It assembled in less than 5 minutes and wings were held on with rubber bands. I hope to fly it tomorrow.

I hope you got to fly it and have some great flights with it. The T-6 came in at 16.0 ounces minus the cowl and fuel. I think it will fly very well if the engine performs as well in the air as it did on the bench. First, I have to register with the FAA (I am already a commercial pilot and A&P. So, I don't think they will learn anything new about me.), re-join the AMA and then re-join my local club. With a little luck and some personal motivation I should put it up some time in January, I hope.

I am going to try and run it on the plane today to test the APC 5.7x3 and a Cox 5x3. I will post the results.

16.9k on the APC 5.7x3. The tank is too high and the engine is a little sensitive to that. I will do some adjusting before running the Cox 5x3.

17.8k to 18.2k on the Cox grey 5x3. This is with Sig Champion 25%. The engine has outstanding fuel draw and the model's fuel tank is too high. I need to do some work to get the tank in a better position relative to the engine.
