plugs!? plugs!? plugs!?...
Hello, I appeal to the experience of you who can comment on that type of spark plugs for their engines used Cox 049/051.
I recently did a comparison using a motor gear 051 Tee Dee.
Fuel used:
18% Castor
25% Nitro
Rest Methanol (methyl)
"Cox normal" Spark Plug: 15900/16000 Rpm
Spark plug "insert AP 061": 16000/16100 Rpm
Spark Plug "Cox high compression": 17000 Rpm
Propeller used: 6x4
They think of the following spark plugs???:

"Glow Plug" they glow they do not spark = )
I like the High Compression glow plugs and use them if I don't use a Nelson glow plug with adapter head.
I also have a Valentine adapter head for the .09 that uses a turbo plug another good choice if you can
fabricate a turbo plug adapter for the .049 you will for sure see a jump in performance.

Hello !, you're right I made a mistake, it's like you say: "Glow Plug" :-)
Thanks for commenting your experiences, you know or have used in some Cox 049/051 the glow plug 061 AP ??

Re: plugs!? plugs!? plugs!?...
Mauricio, my favorites are the drop-in type that are held down with a clamp ring like these:

http://www.exmodelengines.com/product.php?productid=17882&cat=267&page=1
That Brodak link is a pretty good deal, and I think they are all made by Merlin. They are super high compression so take 3-5 copper gaskets. They fit all Cox .049 and Norvel .049 and .061. If I could have my choice of any plug and head, those would be it. A spring-clip type pocket glow igniter fits them too if you have the regular 3-fin clamp ring. the extra cooling 5-fin ring like Bernie sells for the Texaco has to be modified for that type igniter to fit.

Rusty !, thanks for the information and leave your comment.
So that I can understand, you say that this type of glow plug should be placed between 3 and 5 units of washers to lowering their compression due to the small dome with and increase the combustion chamber?....Mauricio.

That's right Mauricio. Start with 5 and work your way down. I have one TD .051 that is so worn out it only uses one, but that is not the usual case.
