Things I didn't know that I didn't know...........
Beautiful airplanes, the Blackbird and all. It is amazing that the human brain can conceive and construct these marvels. Yet with all this brain power at our command we cannot stop what's happening in the middle east and humankind suffers. The image of that little Syrian boy pulled from the rubble haunts me. The major powers in this world should be ashamed for letting this travesty continue. Sorry, my one-time political vent.

The pictures of that little boy made me sad and angry, and knowing that he is just one of thousands of children in the same situation doesn't help.
Airplanes and other beautiful creations are created by innovative and clever minds. Engineering is a science, but also an art in my opinion. See all the planes, vehicles, bridges, engines and so on. All results of engineering minds.
Politics, on the other hand are dominated by greedy loudmouths, psychopaths and selfish liars who never even wanted to do a real job. I think that is the problem. Of course many great inventions are results of the human race's inherent desire to kill fellow human beings of other tribes... Military has funded many great research projects, and some great inventions have been by-products of those projects.
I honestly don't know what should or could be done to the situation in Middle East. We have seen many times that Western style of democracy is not a product you can export to other countries or force it to be accepted. Middle East is currently living its own dark ages. In the Medieval times Europe was a lot like that, people getting killed by thousands in the name of religion, average peasant's life was worth next to nothing, equality non-existent. At some point the French revolution happened, Martin Luther started to question the church's power and so on. Lot of blood was shed. But all that (and later WWI and WWII) led to the civilization and mind-set us here in the first world have. I believe that it will take a long time before Middle East becomes a peaceful place. In the meanwhile we will have refugees and asylum seekers, don't really know what we should do with them either.
