Re: Not a good day.
They all have a expiration date,,or you hit the negative lottery,,however you want to look at it John.
Looks like it will be the six million dollar plane tho",,if it will fly again.
I talked my buddy into sawing off the still undamage tail of his 4 star and mounting it up like a trophy deer head,,after it gound hogged. little hand carved plaque underneath stating the date of its first flight and it's ultimate demise.

'pon Ma soul
Lets hope this is habit forming but the Bacaruda returned from this mornings sortie
in one piece. Hurrah!
It's official Cox 010's do NOT like very cold weather -1 at the field and
difficult to keep running at anything like full power. Longest flight about 1min 5 secs.
I think I'm going to knock it on the head till it warms up a bit.

John if you do go out again could you get a vid?
I ran a .020 and it was firm today.
Btw you can get them leaner in cold weather.

Usually on a Sat Chingford Indra but I went to Rammey Marsh at Enfield which is supposed to be our Sunday patch .
Anyway not scientific but....
Annoying the neightbours some more and with dusk descending I went into garden (-4 now) and I could actually see the glow through the exhaust port growing dimmer whilst running unless I gave it lots of glow (25/30 secs) first.
Obviously on an engine that only has 75 secs tank time this ain't great plus occaisionally the only way to stop mota dying was to reattach glow. I think perhaps just the scale of an 010 means it's more sensitive to cold weather.

Re: Not a good day.
That is possible.
I will be back in ten mins I am going to try and run a tiny diesel and see if it is different to glow.

I would think it would be harder, because they rely solely on compression ignition - no extra heat from the plug.
Re: Not a good day.
Back.
It ran.
I find they start just as easy/hard in the cold for the exact reason you stated Matt,
They rely in compression and when engines are cold compression is higher.
