Sterling Beginner Series Patterns
My 6 yr. old Grandson is very interested in the Spitfire.
ANY Spitfire
This past Thursday he flew C/L for the first time.
A 35 size Ringmaster no less! 8 flights!
He yelled: "This is AWESOME!" when we did the first loop.
One of MANY!!
Would like to find the Beginner Series 1/2A tracings of long ago to build a Spitfire.
Or even a larger size would be AOK.
Any assistance, leads or links would be GREATLY appreciated!
Many thanks in advance & "Tight Lines!"
Wes

Re: Sterling Beginner Series Patterns
NeedNitro,
Check out Dave Cowell at DPCModels. He has lasercut kits of some pretty cool models. Look here and on RCGroups (same username). Both of my boys built Dave's Scientific profile kits. The ones my boys selected were profile fuselages with built up wings. At 18+ inches, the ribs totalled about 11 across the entire wing. One of the planes is the Scientific FW-190, and the other is the Scientific Typhoon. Both kits feature easy to work built up wings, profile fuselages, clear canopies, and even plastic engine cowls!
I forget which forum each is in now, but Google "944_Jim Scientific Typhoon RCGroups.com" to see the Typhoon. Do the same for the FW-190. One is in 1/2A, and the other is in Control Line.
Also find "Pat King Beginner Ring Master" for those patters/plans. It is so popular to have made it all over the internet in one form or fashion.
Also find the Stunt Chimp for a Carl Goldberg Stuntman 23 clone.
But for closer to what you seek:
I also have mouse-racer patterns for planes that could be blown up about 15-20% to get exactly what you asked for (WWII planes all sides).
PM me your email address, I'll forward the patterns.
Outerzone has one or two Midwest 1/2A patterns/plans recently posted by one of our forum members: https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=11298
My favorite if you want to buy a great lasercut kit:

Wes.
If he has already mastered a .35 size Ringmaster, there's probably not a lot of point stepping back down to 1/2A. They're generally more difficult to fly than the larger models, and more sensitive to weather conditions.
1/2A's are good for beginners as they don't generally sustain so much damage in a crash as a larger model, and are far cheaper to replace when the inevitable happens. 8 flights and a loop with the Ringmaster- he won't need any 1/2A training.

Jim.
NeedNitro's post is over 8 years old. I've never seen him post since I've been a member, so I'm guessing he's no longer around.

Oops! Thanks Rod!
AFML...most of what I posted for the other guy was really meant for you, anyway. I just saw both posts asking for beginners profiles. Use what you can.
One of the patterns I can provide is a Spitfire...but it isn't a Sterling.
Please feel free to PM your email.
Thanks again, Rod. I missed the date issue on my phone.
