I think they are only superior in build quality, like stonger crank etc. My early one has SPI. The amount of SPI varies engine to engine. You just may have a good one in that the piston cylinder was a really good fit and the machined surfaces are smooth. Couple that with a decent SPI gap and 30k or more is easily obtainable on a .010.
