The race is run, the flag unfurled, the champion now will rest. God speed, Carroll Shelby, we will never forget you. Jan. 23, 1923 – May 10, 2012.

I have always thought he was a great guy, and love the Shelby line of vehicles. I have all of them in 1:64.

AC Cobra's! One of Shelby's "marriages" of a British car to an American (Ford) engine.
Another was the Sunbeam Tiger.

Re: Carroll Shelby Passed Away
What a shame......
I met him a couple years back when he was promoting some Shelby inspired Mustangs.
He was on Base in Texas, wonderful guy and a good American. He certainly left his mark in racing and the performance car market.

Ron:
Carroll Shelby was one of those guys who WAS appreciated during his lifetime for he did for the automotive community. All too often we only recognize the "greats" until after they are gone.
A consumate Texan, Shelby had a certain "flair" that was hard not to like. Some would call him flamboyant but I would call him a genuine American of many stripes never forgetting to be a person of genuine quality.
I personally met him at what was then at SIR (Seattle International Raceways)during the early seventies.. He even had me sample some of his chili latest recipe.

Carroll Shelby was a true innovator and was always ahead of the curve with every car that he built. He will be missed!

Re: Carroll Shelby Passed Away
One of his greatest accomplishments, in my mind, is what he did in the mid 60s. He took over a failing Ford race
team and went on to dominate Ferrari four years in a row at Le Mans with the GT40.
