Bad google redirect virus
Anyone get this over the last few days? very frustrating.
For those not knowing. Basically you enter a search topic in google,,click search,,it puts up your choices once it finds close to what you are looking for,,then when you select one of those choices,,it redirects you off to some other type of search engine or page. It will roll to 3+ different redirects before it halts on one. Even when you know the choice is a good one and a quick link to it,,it will redirect you to somewhere else.

Re: Bad google redirect virus
Haven't had anything like that.
But, I have had some problems with Google Images on my iPod Touch. The first page of pictures always loads, but not the second. It shows the little question marks in their place. I tried a different browser and got the same thing.

Re: Bad google redirect virus
Whew!,,almost 4 LONG months, tons of research, toying around in the registry trying to find that adjusted line of code, looking for anything out of place, all online tips and suggestions used, I finally achieved success at removing this annoying Google redirect bug.
What did I do to fix it?,,AVG Anti Virus 2013 free edition. Load it up if you don't have it.,,you will wish you had. The virus had attached itself to a line of code used by my Lexmark printer/copier/scanner, so my virus scanners were allowing it to go thru thinking it was needed. This virus had disabled one scanner, to the point of absolute non-use.
I thought for sure I was going to have to remove then toss this hard drive in the microwave and call it a done deal.

Re: Bad google redirect virus
There's a lot of it about Keith, I'm a great AVG fan but like everything
In life it ain't perfect IMHO you can do a lot worse than
Run Malwarebytes as well.
We run both in the office and they both cope with even my
Son's best efforts to b£g*er it all up.

Re: Bad google redirect virus
For the longest time John I ran Spybot and Malwarebytes, then I dumped the Spybot and ran malwarebytes and Superantispyware. Then this final selection was Superantispyware and MS Security Essentials. Up until about August 27th, the last two were plugging along just fine protecting everything and throwing up warnings about stuff that should be not allowed and auto quarantining stuff.
Ms Security Essentials was the one that was disabled. AVG fixed the usability of MS security and allowed it to be updated and reconnected. So a feather in there cap for that.
The Google redirect virus is a rootkit virus.
The people who create this stuff should be hung by there toenails!
Just made a full recovery copy on my 1 Terrabyte external hard drive.

LOL!. The news had a article on a caught internet money fraud scumbag on TV, he was in front of the judge sweating bullets. If I remember right, he had absconded with about $750,000+.
What do we do with this guy Andrew?.

Re: Bad google redirect virus
Those redirect viruses suck!! The easiest way to get rid of them is to use rkill.exe first and then run a scan with Malware Bytes and then you'll want to go into your browser settings and make sure the re-direct option is unchecked. And the best anti virus software for the money right now is Trend Micro Titanium which starts at around 50 bucks with a 3 user license. Norton is okay but to me it's a bit of a resource hog when running in the background and for free Anti Virus, AVG Free is good. However the free anti virus software is limited in protection. I do network installs and computer repairs for a living and a good 65% of the repairs I do is virus removal.
