Loving the fact you guys love your Spits, I think over here now there's a similar love of the P51.
BTW cracking bit of Kit Ron.

Ah, but the P51 only came good when fitted with the same engine as the Spitfire!

Yep, looks like they were bought and forgotten. Kitchen has the best light in the house. Time for some banana bread!

Another last...LAST thing to do...CG is important, but make sure the Spit balances left wing-to-right wing also !

Well it is tail heavy, going with the 1/3 of the wing chord as my CG point. With the addition of the receiver which should mount up front I think I can correct that. Now how does one check the balance from left wing to right wing?

Ron:
Raise the plane from the prop and the tip if the vertical stabilzer then observe if the wing stays horizontal.

Re: Guillows Spitfire park flyer FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!
I sprayed down the Spit last night to seal the decals and paint. I used dull Ultrakote, it looks ok except it turned all the edges of the Decals into a crinkly mess. So be forwarned. It doesn't look real bad but, it wasn't what I was going for......

I've used Model Masters Enamel Topcoat over decals with excellent success. BTW, it's fuel-proof too.

Thanks Mark,
It's been close to 20 years since I built a model. Made some minor mistakes and learned a lot in the process. Mostly from folks here on this forum. I hope it flies well and if not those pics are saved on my PC.
I had a lot of fun building and my cox engine collection has increased during the process. Onward and upward!

Re: Guillows Spitfire park flyer FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking GOOD Ron
Based on my yesterday Exploits 1 small snippet of advice.
Small rudder throw.
I neglected to mention in my Rainbow reveiw (I'm like that ) but as it climbed
I gave it a handful of rudder and the resulting full power spiral dive had me
me thankful for modern laundry..That was with a high wing, high dihedral and I
JUST got away with it. The Spit was designed to be unstable.
Give it as much height as you can before attempting to turn it and make it very gentle.
If you can, put a nice bit of expo on the TX.
We're all rootin for Ya
