Cox thin-wall .049 Cylinder...
Does anyone know what year/engine that this cylinder would have been on?

Is there a number stamped on it? This will help get a general idea. The P40 cylinder was the first one for Cox to stamp and identify.

There are no identification marks anywhere on it Jason. I'm pretty certain it's the oldest cylinder I have. At 8 grams... it's 25% lighter than most of my other cylinders... which weigh 12 gr. (not including cylinders with purpose-ground o.d.'s) This one has a single port.. and accepts a std. glow-head. I'm not sure if it has SPI.
Re: Cox thin-wall .049 Cylinder...
Being a single bypass cylinder, I would say its likely off an early Babe Bee (Pre-1970). Does it have SPI?
Re: Cox thin-wall .049 Cylinder...
I have one early Babe Bee with thin necked crankcase ( mid 60's ? ) using this type of cylinder, and looks new accept a missing drive plate. The drive plate looks thinner than current production one and still searching for it.

Re: Cox thin-wall .049 Cylinder...
I have two, both are 4 piece pistons, the Babe Bee has SPI and the cylinder is marked #2. The Golden Bee does not have SPI and has no number.
The exhaust port on the Babe Bee is noticeably larger than the Golden Bee.
CORRECTION I pulled out the wrong Baby Bee, my older Babe Bee with 4 piece piston has no SPI and no number, but the newer Bee stamped #2 does have single intake port and SPI.

I think the thin wall single bypass cylinder was also used on the later Space Bug Juniors. Of course the early ones used the smaller glow head.

Roddie, The fact that your engine does not have a number stamped on it, would generally date it prior to June 1961. Most likely a babe bee. Andy
