Up.
The best way to tell is remove the air cleaner and look at the choke slide.

That's the problem, it's not really a choke, its a separate bypass fuel feed, that lets more fuel into carb when you first start it. I don't know if the plunger is open or closed to activate the system.

It's an "enricher" circuit, like on the Bing carbs on my Rotax. You open the plunger to allow fuel to bypass the venturi to enrichen the fuel mixture. Once the engine starts, you slowly close off the circuit. It's more or less like using the choke butterfly to enrichen the fuel-air ratio.

Got it running today. Ended up pulling a carburetor off another Subaru engine because the original would not stop leaking gas. Clutch seems to be OK and the engine runs like a champ. I've got it all cleaned up, waxed, and even a set of lights.
I'm working on getting a clutch brake set up because the scrub brake is rather weak - mostly for safety reasons.

Nice job, those springs must really help the ride on a mini bike.

They really do, you can feel them working going down the road.

No, I didn't get to ride it. If I'd seen it I would have asked though. That's a nicer one than I've ever ridden.
Which reminds me, I promise I'll write up a Joe Nall story soon. Tonight I'm multi tasking, making my Travelling engine movie set and preflighting the Magnum for tomorrow morning's expedition.

I probably would have offered if I had the time. My little brother rode it back to the campsite so I had to walk. Maybe next time.
I have a lot of pictures and a video from the Ringmaster session if you want them Rusty. You can use them in your write up or in a youtube video.
Re: So I Bought a Mini Bike Today...
I'd love to have them, and Wayne also got a bunch of pictures which I haven't seen yet. If you have the videos on the 'Tube, I'd like to see the links. I saw your Dad getting a video during at least one of your flights.microflitedude wrote:....I have a lot of pictures and a video from the Ringmaster session if you want them Rusty.
