I recently joined a Facebook group "Control Line Enthusiasts" and saw these posted. My apologies if this is old news. I couldn't find any info here.. and thought it appropriate to share.

Hi Roddie, yeah we've posted those a few times here, Mark Boesen, me and others, but thanks anyhoo. It's interesting to see those old documents. I never knew Cox included a bit of Dow synthetic in the mix till I saw those. 18% castor and 2% Dow lube XA-1180-6. Probably way outclassed by modern additives now.

I think Joe posted those a couple years ago and they've traveled around the internet and back to here! I even see somebody is trying to sell them on eBay.

It would be interesting to know where Cox originally obtained their castor oil.. being that they ordered thousands of gallons at a time. The synthetic element in their mix was stated to be labeled "Klotz KL-201". Sig's website references "Baker's AA" castor as being available separately.. but I thought that they used Klotz's "Benol" castor in their blended fuels? Is "Baker's AA" a Sig trademark? I couldn't find any info on it otherwise.

This makes me curious as to where Hobbico sources their ingredients for the newly re-formulated Cox Super fuel.

Your correct Mark. I got mine several years back from an former Cox RD guy in Bend Oregon along with a box of new Tee Dee .051 parts. I shared them on a couple of sites and have been selling them on EBay ever since to CEF non believers LOL.

BTW does anybody know what was the purpose of the 2% Dow additive? I Google the product code but could only find something close to the XA1180....which is used in 2-stroke motorcycle engines nowadays.

Thanks Eric, I enjoy saving images of "Old Time" ads like the Baker's Castor one. They make interesting "wallpaper" for my laptop. I typically change my wallpaper every few days. Most of the images are small though. My all-time favorite Cox-related image, is the cover of their 1991 product catalog.

Mark Boesen generously emailed me this copy of the image.. after I reminisced of it in a thread awhile ago. I had misplaced my copy years ago.. but found it recently.

I really enjoy building in miniature "in general".. and have loved seeing "dioramas" and dollhouse-scale work since I was a kid.

Looking at the above image.. imagine building a back-drop hangar wall for displaying your favorite Cox-powered airplane; using a few random resized "ad-images" as wall-posters. Use any old piece of hardboard.. cut a "floor" piece and a "back-wall" piece. Paint the floor grey and the wall.. whatever color you want. The wall can be repainted to suit.. just remove the posters, re-paint.. and put up different ones if you want.
