2015 Tach Race- Stock Div.

2015 Tach Race- Stock Div.
So Kim and I thought it would be neat to have a stock class, something geared for the first time participant or a fun class.
I thought it would be simple...STOCK, just the way it came from the factory. But it seems like everybody's got different ideas and that's good as long as the majority agree and it keeps with the spirit of the contest.
So here's what I'm thinking...
1. Any Babe Bee or Golden Bee with single intake port cylinder. (no aftermarket parts)
2. No modifying of any parts other then replacement of like parts. (no, machining, grinding, filing, lightening, etc.)
3. Any winning engine will be Subject to inspection by Contest Director. (sounds fair)
4. Reeds- any factory type replacement. (Mylar reeds have been used since 1980)
5. Stock factory heads, no high compression heads, any number of head gaskets. ( I think Bernies does still sell original glowheads. He also sells high compression glowheads that look the same...see #3)

I like this. I was going to suggest a similar stocker class with say a 5/3 safety prop (or whatever is "Bernie available").
I have no belief that I would win, but I would like a chance to try to take a plain old, boring bee and see what I could do with it. If nothing else, it would be a push to see what we newbies to performance pushing could achieve.
I'm just a 50 year old middle school kid who is trying to get a little more out of my bees. I'm guessing there are others.
Heck, if the powers at be don't want to take on the added burden, I would be willing to run it.

OK, I can go with this easily. Can we lock down Mark's description for the Stock Class?

Didn't later Babe Bees come with slit exhausts and duel bypass? I think the current ones being sold probably have the same cylinders as Sure Starts, with no SPI. That would mean they have boost flutes. So clearly, this class doesn't accept all stock Babe Bees, just the ones that meet the stated criteria. Am I seeing it right? I'm happy to go with it because I can see what a can of worms this is quickly becoming. The scrutinizing is going to be a pain for Kim, but if he's happy to go with it, I'm ok with it. Hats off to you Kim. That's real dedication to the cause.

Yeah, this is the hazard of having a "Stock Class", but I did want to try it to give guys a venue that wouldn't involve their having to grind or chop their favorite engines.
I'll continue to need Mark's help and direction with these and other rules. As I've stated before, I don't consider myself to be a "Contest Guy", but just have accommodations for running engines indoors in the winter.
I'm really depending on the Honor System in our tight little group to help me make this a fair and fun contest.
