Advertisements and Image Host

The forum host has updated some of the software and has disabled the setting to remove ads for members. They removed that setting a few years ago for new forums created after a certain date, forums created before that date kept the setting until just recently. Since the ads are poor, misleading and sometimes inappropriate, plus they get in the way, I'll be paying to have them removed on the first of May.

As for the image host, I'm not sure when it will be back working. For now, you can use http://postimage.org/

Who here can still see the ads? I requested to have them removed for a good 2 weeks or so now, I just logged into one of my test accounts and see they are now back. I'll going to contact the host tomorrow.

That's good to hear although I believe the moderator accounts are ad free by default.

The banner adds I get are from web sites I've visited, shopping for parts or products. I assume they are following the "cookie"trail. Right now I've got an add ( just below the CEF header, from the Mantis Tiller I'd looked at a few days ago. Same as on our laptop, my wife's e mail account gets "sidebar ads" based on my shopping on e bay......still time to buy it now....are you still looking for......whatever. Huh...

I've been getting the old "Meet singles in your area" with a spread of four or so Russian women. Not sure that Russia qualifys as in my area but hey we're on the same planet.
