Cox Engine of The Month
What am I called
Hi Joe
It looks like a 24'' wing span . Cox made a .09 mount with a square back . I would guess a home brew plane with a .09. I flew combat back in my early years but can not recall that plane . Maybe a F.A.I. ( .15 power ) ship ???

Hi Joe
If the .09 is too heavy, I think it would be a great match for a Big Mig .061. That's a seriously powerful engine and would probably balance nicely. You could get one of the radial mount backplates that just screw into the back of the crankcase and mount it easily to that.

Re: What am I called
It looks like my old combat wings that I built in the 70's.I remeber buying a Carl Goldberg 2 plane kit from my local hobby shop. I will measure my combat wings later too veify. I used .049 Cox engines on mine.

Re: What am I called
Well I looked at my combat wings and is larger than mine. The wingspan on my planes are 21". You are right that it looks like a larger Lil Satan which I also have. It may be home built.I made a couple of combat wings back in the day from balsa wood. My wings are showing their age,the tissue paper is breaking up.Time for some mono kote.

Re: What am I called
It's a bit short for a Kombat Kitten and the tail boom is wrong. Guess this one will go into the unknown file.
Thanks all, Joe

Re: What am I called
Could be a re-used wing on a self-design. It has a hinged elevator/stab rather than a stabilator. Li'l Satan is 18" and this one looks 22-24" so not a lot of difference. I mentioned the Big Mig above, but a Tee Dee .049 would scram pretty good too with a 5.25x3or4 prop. Or a TD with a Medallion venturi if you use a tank. Ron Cribbs was planning on experimenting with that combo, so he may be able to tell you about the comparative power. I think an .09 is way out of this one's class.

Re: What am I called
There are numerous 1/2A combat plane designs. We always seem to default to the Goldberg and TF designs because they were (are) popular.
Just about every kit manufacturer had one or two, many were home design and featured in mags, but never kitted.
Your best bet would be to post that picture on Stunthangar in the combat section. If it's a kit, someone will know what it is.
To me it looks very similar to "George"
