Glowplugboy Fuel
Hello, my name is Steve, This is not an ad for fuel sales but an update to let former customers of Mike McGraw and Glowplugboy fuel, it will be back in production.
Moderators if this post is out of line please remove it.
I was a friend of Mike and flew with him at JSCRCC for a good year, where we became friends. I have flown rc for the past 25 years off and on and blended my own rc fuels. I would occasionally buy supplies from Mike and pick his brain on blending of which he was generous with information, not only about fuel but the business. I ended up purchasing Mikes fuel and supplies inventory and blend formulas together with the website and glowplugboy name last week.
I plan in the next few weeks to get the website up and have some 1/2a fuel blended to Mikes specifications.
My goal is to offer the same quality and customer service Mike offered if not better. I understand I am not Mike and will have to earn trust and build reputation based upon my product. Having the glowplugboy name on it will ensure it is to his formulas and specifications using the exact brand and quality of raw materials he used in his fuel.
I soon will be offering some free samples for former customers in return for feedback to me on performance and quality before I begin to sell fuel. I have no mixed fuel left from Mike to compare and haven't flown 1/2A since the 70's.
Thanks!
Steve

Re: Glowplugboy Fuel
Steve, that's absolutely wonderful. Mike's GPB 24/17 ran more smoothly in all of my 1/2A engines than any others. And we control liners so often fly wide open on the ragged edge of lean, the castor protection was an engine saver. Thanks for keeping Mike's brew alive. I look forward to communicating with you in the future.
Thanks,
Rusty
Thanks,
Rusty

Re: Glowplugboy Fuel
Steve,
Ditto here on Rusty's comments! I was a very happy customer of Mike's and it's great to hear of you taking up the challenge of continuing his great service!
I won't require any samples, just let us know when things are up and going, and I'll take a couple of quarts right off the bat.
Also, if you're in contact with his family, please pass on to them the high regard we had for Mike and his ethics in dealing with his customers. He was one square-dealing (and patient) dude !!!!
AND...Welcome to the Forum !
Sincerely, Kim

Steve,
Thank's for taking the torch. Good fuel is getting a little harder to come by and the shipping costs are ever increasing. I appreciate you taking on the challenge. Still sorry to hear about Mike, but glad that his business will live on.
I have not used Glowplugboy fuel to be honest, but I hear great things.

Re: Glowplugboy Fuel
I'm down to my last two ounces and I honestly feel a little pang of sadness every time I draw some up for fueling. When I first started using GPB, I imagined a dude knocking around in his garage mixing his fuel. I'm sure it was more elaborate than that. After occasionally talking to him via e-mail I got a good impression. He explained his reasoning behind his formula of 24/17. I asked if he would make some 24/20 or thereabouts, because I usually add some castor to get 20%. He said he would mix any combination if we would buy 4qts. Thanks for the good help Mike, wherever you are.

Re: Glowplugboy Fuel
Mike McGraw was a great guy who custom blended fuel for me in the past. Sad to hear of his passing
Steve I look forward to your endeavor
I am a past happy customer and enjoyed being close enough that shipping costs were reasonable on the few times I asked for a custom blend in small quantities
I was having issues with some of my larger .61 and .90 glow engines and Mike made suggestions for me to try
He was also OK with my upping his 17% castor to 22% to 25% for my old Enya and McCoy engines using Sig Castor

Re: Glowplugboy Fuel
I do believe GPB will be my next 1/2a fuel purchase. Gonna need to custom blend some higher nitro though. I either run zero or a ton!
Rolla
Edit: It is GPB not GBP. not sure how I messed that up.

WOW! See what happens when you skim over things too fast..., How I missed that, I don't know. My bad! LOL Too much switching between topics, going direct to the latest post...
Now that I have read it I'm glad to see it is back in production!
Re: Glowplugboy Fuel
I'm stocked up on Sig Champion right now, but will strongly consider GPB when I start running low. I hope that you can provide a superior product as you get geared up.

Steve,
Please ensure that you send us a link to your website and we will include it in our fuel guide:
http://coxengines.ca/files/FG.pdf
I recall Mike saying something to the effect that his 1/2A fuel sales doubled after we began recommending his fuel to our customers.

Re: Glowplugboy Fuel
Sorry to bring such an old post back but, I got sidetracked with 1/2a fuel so I turned it over to an expert now blending 1/2a Glowplug boy blends to the original standards if not better
It is now for sale on e-bay as seller e-helis or fitzfuels.com website.
Cheers
Steve
