I like this video and song. I hope I haven't already posted it though. It's getting hard to keep track.

At least it's not a crazy long BING one.

This is the Volkswagen commercial I'm most proud of. We shot in the Bodega Bay area of Northern California and
our directors were the amazing Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. (years before their "Little Miss Sunshine" fame.)
The soundtrack was by Nick Drake. It was recently named one of the 10 best car commercials in the past 25 years.

This song's been on my mind. I already know the basic format on piano. I've played and sang some Billy Joel songs over time.. but never this one.

Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
Thanks for posting, Bob.
The first photo is reminiscent of my 1970 Mazda 1800. I did not understand at the time (bought it used in 1974 for $600 with about 60,000 miles on it), why some asked me if it was a BMW. It had such a smooth ride with the gas filled shocks, a bit unusual at the time. Those who rode with me said it rode almost like being in an airplane, how smooth it handled the open roads in Hawaii. Mine was pure white with 4 speed standard on the floor, my brother's was medium gray (plain not metallic) and automatic. Interestingly, the car had a single SU type carburetor sometimes seen on British cars of the time. Engine was 4 cylinder.

I have not seen the same medium gray as my brother's Mazda 1800 since until recently. The color made a comeback.
The second BMW photo shot at the particular angle it did, is reminiscent of my 1968 Hino Contessa 1300, I owned while in high school. Then, the Japanese heavy truck/bus company also made a water cooled rear engine passenger vehicle, technology licensed from Renault of France. It was somewhat reminiscent of the Renault R10, but with a Japanese flair. Mine was a pretty solid deep Navy blue with tan vinyl interior and rubber floor mats.

It is interesting that just like today, 40+ years ago, the automotive manufacturers in agreement modeled their car designs with in common accents to resemble each others.

Just recently I was listening to Candy Dulfer and immediately thought of you and your sax. Got me wondering if you were OK
I thought you had posted a video of you at a old folks home playing, perhaps it was just a photo or two
If a video can you post it here

Hi George.
The early Datsun Bluebird was very similar as well.

Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
Doesn't really belong in the Music Vids thread...............or does it?
Ever hear the music that an Indy car puts out. I remember Jimmy Clarks Lotus running at Indianapolis in the sixties. Music!

We used to take the mufflers off our old Fords when in high school and run a straight pipe. More music. My 1993 BMW 325is made a nice sound. Heck I even enjoyed my VW Bug. Presently my Nissan 350Z rumbles.
Enjoyed your story about your Mazda 1800 George. I have owned three, a '85 RX-7 GSL-SE with the 13B rotary a 929, and an 83' RX-7 GS. All fine cars.

What a contrast between the two. I'll take one of each, a hangar and a field big enough for a runway!

Now, now ....

I thought it best to rechannel the rabbit hole, so I have initiated a off-topic new thread to continue this off-topic derailment:

Those young guys have got a few fancy licks, but Tommy Emmanuel has been doing that stuff for 50 years. He made percussion on guitar popular well before they were born.
Normally Tommy doesn't sing, but acquits himself very well in this clip. Nothing too flashy, just solid and soulful.
