Taifun and wierd cox style backplate revisited

I assembled the "parts" Taifun "Hurrican" and discovered that the screened screw on venturi cap is missing, not much on the net regarding this engine. Anyone have a parts source?

And, any idea's as to what the back plate came from, a Cox model perhaps? It's strange because the intake opening is 90 degrees off from the vent/filler tubes.

Thanks Ron, I kinda thought so as it came in the same can but it's missing the tank. Found one on ebay

I think a standard Cox tank would bolt right on.

IIRC, the bolt holes are very close but not exact. I think it does fit with a little bit of finagling.

I'm fairly sure the bolt holes are correct, but the spigot of the tank (reed holder) is a little smaller on a Cox tank and you'll need a small spacer ring (so I'm led to believe). Maybe it's the other way around and you need to turn the Cox tank down???

I know there is someone out there who hot-rods the Tornado engines & fits Cox tanks etc. Can't seem to find him at the moment. Builds custom tether cars as well. Sure someone will know who I mean.

Thanks for that look-back Rod. I did quickly marry the Cox tank to the Aurora engine and it seemed a proper fit. I think I will try a FrankenCoxAurora set-up and see what I get.

It may be a good idea to measure the depth as well so that the rod is securely retained on the crank pin but there is adequate clearance. By the way, if you need a Tornado head, MECOA have them.
