I don’t have what you’re looking for. But, I’d thought I would WELCOME you to the Forum.
If anyone has what you’re after I am sure they’ll chime in.

I've never gotten my hands on an O&R .049 engine. It has to at or very near the top of some real strange 1/2A design engineering

Re: HELP Need a part for an O&R Mite 049
Hi r39o
Welcome to the forum.
I don’t have the part you are looking for but I may be able to clarify a few things.
Looking in Tim Dannels book “American Model Engines Encyclopedia” (a very handy reference in my humble opinion) I can’t find an O&R .049 Midget but there is reference to a .049 Midjet so I’m wondering if this is the engine you are referring to.
The Midjet bears a similar appearance to the Cox Space Bug.
but there is also reference to Mite and Midjet engines fitted to an O&R race car, the photo below showing a venturi assembly screwed to the rear of the engine.
Is this what your engine looks like and venturi assembly that you seek?
Dave

I have a Mite
Turns out I have a Mite. It has no gas tank.
I need the assembly that the needle valve screws into.
I need the bent sheet metal mount too.
Those are the last two parts attached to the crankcase.
In other words I need the two last piece screwed on to the back of the engine.
Shown on the left in the picture.

I'm sorry, I don't have those parts among my spares.
Good luck with your search, I know how it feels to have half an engine.

I'd say Bob's is worth cleaning up a bit.

Re: HELP Need a part for an O&R Mite 049
I violated a rule I have.
This motor came in the original box and parts were rattling around inside. I was told there were parts, so I did not look too close.
I trusted but did not verify.
It was part of a large package deal with several NIB Cox engines ( 8 ) and oodles of NOS parts and a ton of used bits and engines.
I bet there is the person who has these parts and does not even know what they are and hence getting them will be a chore.
I have contacted a few online sources and am about to call an elderly collector I purchased many other NIB engines from.
It is not tragic, I just want the motor to be complete.
The Mite is to live with other NOS 049s of the same vintage.
The little motors are sort of a small side collection along with all the Cox engines.
I do not know why I like to have them other than they are cute. I fly electric and slope, why do I have them?????
thanks.....
