Tracking number made it to me today...thanks MB49!
I put out an invitation for when they get here...hopefully "Dad" ok's it. He's got a small pack of kids. We are about to go back to winter here, so it may slow down flying opportunities/movement for a bit.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Getback, unlike my time with the other Traveling Engines, the holidays, family time and a modicum of other nit-noys disrupted my time in the workshop and with the mindset of a 30 day turnaround time limit, I just didn't have a chance to get something built or even modify something I already have built for flight. So, I'm hoping the group "show and tell" session would still be accounted as a tribute because that's one thing us modelers are good at ... "show and tell" and "chewing the fat"!! I do know the guys enjoyed seeing these little gems and going through the log book.getback wrote:They do look like there having some good Fun ! Modelbuilder49 did you run or fly the engines ?![]()

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Guys,
I just got home from work to find a box from Titusville, FL sitting here. Without opening the box, I am reporting they are now in my possession...in 34 degree (F) Mississippi. I'll crack open the box a bit later.
Another invitation was put out. This time to my co-worker's nephew. The co-worker is supposed to bring up the idea with his sister (neph's mom) this weekend. Hopefully weather permits next weekend, and I'll have a few boys (and maybe a girl or two) on hand for this. I sure would hate to fly them alone.
Thanks for allowing me to join in.
This is an honor.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Sorry guys.
I've had a crazy several weeks. They are still in the box as shipped from Florida.
Any decently sunny day has been very windy. Any other day has been wet and grey. Then we had some medical issues in the house; first my wife, and then me.
I hope to re-engage the dad with many kids (four or five) as soon as this crazy weather clears. But the good news is the tornadoes ran all around my little town...no direct hit in my backyard.
I'm so sorry.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Was happy to see you I am OK posts on FB and here Re: the tornadoes.
We have seen 5 form and make ground in our 34 years on the micro ranch. Our place is half way up a minor Hill in the 5 hills area near copperas Cove Texas. front covered porch faces west. Luckily Tornadoes don't prefer to track up a hill, they pass us north or south within 3/4 of a mile.
Most devastating was total 100% wipe off the map Jarrell Texas 1997. This week the 2 we saw did little damage as they tracked over very rural areas. One we saw further south is the tornado that messed up parts of Round Rock some 34 miles away to the south east.
Going to be an intense year based on our previous extreme WX years experiences

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Jim and Fred, glad to see you are both safe. Some years ago had an eerie happening here in Clovis NM. All of a sudden, the air got super still, with a bone chilling electrical feeling in the air. A slow circling dark mass of clouds similar to the Adams Family photo of the house and sky, that above our house was so dark it was almost black. I never saw such. The wife and I decided to duck into the inner recesses of the house, our hallway with all doors shut. Shortly after the winds picked up. The tornado touched down in Texico 5 miles east of us, a boarder town in NM to Texas. We were spared.
Yet another tornado touched down 15 years ago about 2 miles from us, tore up a few businesses and residences. It's been strange, hardly any rain or snow here, but floods in other places. We haven't got near the 17 inches a year we are supposed to get.
BTW, I was looking for the guidelines for the recipient of these traveling engines. Forgive me for asking, but particularly Rusty's, where is it posted?

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Thanks, Marleysky, I somehow missed that one post by Jason that explained the rules. For the time being, I'll have to pass. I am recovering from a herniated disk in my back, so I am limited in what I can do. May be at a later date when I am in better shape, I can take up the challenge, but thanks for encouraging me.

Any updates? Hopefully the weather is getting better elsewhere than it has been here. Feels like March has never ended here.
