Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Here are detailed pictures of the engines, case, contents, and journal status. I’ll be uploading run videos soon. This is a larger journal and pages can be carefully removed and printed with an inkjet printer. I will be including templates with the correct margins for the front and back page. I borrowed pictures from the final flight thread to be used in the journal.
I have a few items to put on the flash drive, print my page entry into the journal then it’s off to Ron this week.
The .020 with the custom 3D printed backplate:

The RR-1 parts engine I put together for this:

The gold case 15th anniversary Fox .35 stunt engine:

All 3 engines together:

Contents of the spare parts in the bottom of the case:

Top and bottom of the case with the 3D printed plaques in antique gold PLA:

Current journal contents:

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Gentlemen,
If the requested info has already been published, them I apologize for my laziness...
Any chance there is a scheduled path of travel?
I'm not looking for hard dates, but rather, a strip map/order by city/state.
I want to ensure my UKIE is ready BEFORE the package gets to Mississippi.
TIA!

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
So as a last minute addition I did add a participant log you can add your name, date, and location.
Feel free to take a page front and back to add text and pictures. The pages in the journal can be removed and printed on a inkjet printer. The back cover shows how to pull out and remove the pages. I have word templates for the front and back page on the flash drive where you can type up your entry and insert pictures and size them to fit. Under the participants folder on the flash drive you can creat a new folder with your name and add pictures, movies, and the word docs if you choose to print your page.
If you do print your page you will need to slightly bend down the perforated leafs where the page connects with the spiral binding. You will need to do this for the front and then for the back. If these leafs stick up then they can catch the print head in the printer. It’s just one thing that needs to be done when you print the page. Its 90# paper and I selected matte photo paper in high resolution. This was with my cannon inkjet using the rear tray. Paper is 6.25” x 8.5” as it’s recommended to test print with regular paper prior to printing the actual journal page.
You can always hand write it and glue in photos if you choose. The spiral binding allows added thickness to the page.

How to pull the pages out.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
How this coming along?
Weather is getting nice, perhaps we could get this moving along just a little bit faster.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
I have the planes ready. I just need to find the time to fly. Weather is nicer yes, but extremely windy here in Oklahoma.
I have been making updates along the way. If anyone is super ticked I totally understand.
Hopefully in the next week or two I can get these things in the air. Sorry guys.

No worries Ron, Just wanted to make sure the engines haven't stalled out.
Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Too bad I am in Europe and therefore cannot participate..this is evolving into a great memorial that Rusty truly deserves!
Once the engines have made their circle around the US and the notebook filled up, please post here some of its contents for all of us who wanted but could not contribute to the memorial.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
I was hoping closer. It looks like we are ten hours apart. I was thinking of some way we could to put two Fliers from the list in one place.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
I don't want to intrude, but really liked the idea of sharing flights with Rusty's Traveling Engines. I know the manager of the airport at New Madrid's airport (KEIW), and might get his OK for us to fly there. It's on I-55 maybe about 2 hours from Memphis, not sure though.
I intend to fly Rusty's Fox on my Flite Streak "Big Bunny", but haven't quite decided on the other two.
Anyway...just a thought.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Ron, zero miles.
Kim, I like that idea.
I'm about three hours southeast from Memphis...and an hour west of Tuscaloosa.
Tuttle, OK is a bit of a drive...but I could go a couple above, or outside (even west) of Memphis and still call it a day trip. It would be wonderful to remember Rusty with others while flying "his" engine(s).

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
OK...I wasn't paying attention and thought you were in Memphis. I'm about 2 1/2 hours north of there, so if there was a club or some place in the Memphis area that would tolerate some interlopers, we could find a place there and make it a fairer drive.
We've also got the S.M.A.L.L. Fly-In in Mayflower, AR in June 3rd-6th, and Fall S.M.A.L.L. in October...though I got to bail early on the June Fun-Fly (Friday the 4th) for a family event on the 5th.
This will be an all-control line event for me, but sure we could do R/C at New Madrid if we wanted.
However it works...it'll be fun!

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
I've been invited to SMALL before. The only problem is I am not a card-carrying member of the AMA, so I couldn't fly there. That is a long way just to watch...not nearly so long if I got to fly too.
So who lives on a few acres of CL-flying privacy between Memphis and Tuttle, OK, and would like to sponsor a day of CL flying?

Looks like Little Rock is five hours away from me. What is around Little Rock? Any big park we could sling 'em around in?

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Let me see if anything is going on at Columbus AFB.
I could drive there for work and fly after hours. No promises. It’s a bit of a long shot.
They do have a CL club in Little Rock, flown there before. My schedule is pretty volatile at any given time. Scheduling a get together is pretty tough on my end.
