Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Troy, I understand your tough situation. Please take your time and don't worry too much about the engines, you have enough to worry about the way it is. Sending thoughts and prayers.
Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Hi Tee Bee,
I am in the same boat.
Do what you have to do.
Not easy.
Take care,
Try to have fun,
Dave

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
The logical solution would be for Tee Bee to send the engines to the next person on the list, then notify Jacob when he was ready to receive them. The idea behind this endeavor is to remember and honor Rusty, then get the engines and the logbook to Rusty's family to review and hold. Not for some to sit on them for months while others waited. Rusty was not a large man nor a healthy one, but he was a man of action fondly remembered by members of this forum.
Let's get this thing moving by giving every forum member a chance at this memorandum which will eventually wind up with Rusty's family as a token of our appreciation for his involvement in this forum.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Sorry to upset you with my personal matters. I have seen these engines move slowly and sit idle for months at a time. I’ve only possessed them for a couple of weeks at this point. The last notification I received regarding the matter of the engines is that I was the last one on the list wishing to participate. If anyone else is currently waiting, I’ll do my best to forward them on. As it stands. my instructions were to send them on to the Admin when finished and this project would be wrapped up. I’m sure Jacob could shed light on the matter. If no one else is waiting, I should get some time to inbox and participate soon. If anyone is offended by my family emergency causing a delay, I will by all means send them on. That’s the most polite way I can think of to express my thoughts at this time.

I'm neither upset or offended, and hope that you are not either. I'm just presenting an option to include all that want to participate in this within a reasonable amount of time.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
I would just like to add that I am not insensitive to Tee Bee's situtation. I have been there, twice........ once with my mother who we lost at 104 and my wife who I lost seven years ago to Alzheimers. Both depended upon me and me alone during their final days. My priviledge to provide love and support as both were gifts to me and my family. I'm sure that Tee Bee feels the same way regarding his mother.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Well ! I don't much believe what I am hearing , But I would say in the beginning Jason was the one who started the whole ball rolling with HIS engines and all that goes with it ,, Yes its been a long time but everything on the forum moves at a slow rate for one reason or another and I don't see a reason to call out NO One at this time if its not been an issue before . And we haven't heard from Jason in over a year no one has his actual phone number !?!?!? Jacob did try and get InTouch with him some time back and Bernie said he can't give out the info and don't guess he tried to call don't remember right now .. My thought are Troy surly did not ask for this situation but life happens . I am sorry for your situation Troy, and knowing you the way i think you are you will do what you can when you can .

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Only Rusty's family is next on the list after Tee Bee (it'll pass through Ron before then), unless someone wants to jump-in in the last minute.
I understand Tee Bee's situation. Family comes first. I also understand this project has taken longer than it should have. Most of us are at fault for that, myself included. I want everyone to have a chance to spend quality time with the engines and have time to write their thoughtful messages in the log book, so I don't want anyone to rush through it.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
I certainly wasn't calling out Tee Bee Eric only offering another approach to keep these engines moving. I must admit I was quite perturbed with "Gus" for sitting on them for so long even after being prodded by members here to finish with them which might have influenced my response.
I know that Rusty's family will treasure these engines and keep them in a special place. But it would be an option for them one day to return them to Jacob and the forum something that I'm sure that Rusty would agree with.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
I lost my mom on Saturday after a tough summer of seeing after her care. I was able to get the engines out and tinker with them a bit on the workbench yesterday morning. There was no time for running or flying them as I just have too much going on currently. Stay tuned for some pics of Rusty's engines on my workbench. I have reached out to Jacob for shipping instructions and am ready to forward them a step closer to Rusty's family. All the best to everyone!

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Troy, sorry to hear of your loss, my condolences. I gather she was suffering for a while, and at least now, she is in peace. I know you have now other arrangements to make for her final resting place.
You are the last with the engines. Jacob knew your situation, and made special provision. I cannot speak up for him, but I gather that he is very patient, as he extended his patience toward me when I had a relapse of back problems, and was confined to crutches and limited mobility, plus taking my wife to doctors treating her out of state, etc.
I don't think he would object to you hanging on to the engines a little while longer, couple weeks, so you can run up at least one of the engines, and provide a very nice write up on it and condolences to Rusty's survivors.
The question we can ask ourselves, is how would Rusty have handled this if it was his mother?
Yes, this project has gone on with various impediments along the way, but amazing we made through and we now see the light of the tunnel.
You have always been faithful before in this forum regarding your interests with Cox engines and models. I have faith that you will provide a nice write up, an engine run or two, and add a positive contribution so that this Travel Engine endevour has a very nice closing and gift to Rusty's family.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Thanks for the kind words! It means a lot. I enjoyed getting the engines out yesterday for a while and reminiscing a bit about my interactions with Rusty. A few years ago, I was able to receive Rusty's traveling TD .010 and got to run and fly it on my little scratched up Tee Stik as well as share it with the members of my local flying club at one of our fly-in events. It was a blast and I was able to film the flight as a tribute to Rusty and post it to youtube. This time around, I was honored just to participate in the program. Playing with my airplanes is a task that has been very tough as of late, with so many life interuptions coming my way. Most of my airplane, radio, and starter batteries have gone flat now from just sitting around. I plan to get "back around" to the hobby as soon as I can but there are some steep hurdles ahead with much work to do for the next few months or so. With that said, running and flying the engines at this time just isn't the right thing for me to do. I placed pictures and notes in the journal and hope Rusty's family will enjoy having that little box of engines sitting around as a reminder of the circle of friends he made all over the place. I can't post pics from this PC on this thread but will do so when I'm able.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss Troy. My sincerest condolences to you and your family.
Thank you for finding the time and ability to focus on Rusty's engines with everything going on in your life.
If you really want more time with the engines, I'm sure we could all agree to let you hang on to them a bit longer. If you know you won't find the time to do much else with them, then they can be sent off to Ron (Cribbs74) who is still in contact with Rusty's family.
I'll let Ron know.

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Sincere sympathy Tee Bee to you on the loss of your Mother. I know the pain associated with it. Dealing with the required post event duties is a necessary if unpleasant task which eventually comes to us all. I hope that your Mom was comfortable at the end. My Mother told me that she prayed every night that the Lord would take her, so when he did at 104 I was not so crushed as I might have been. I hope the same for you.
When I lost my wife, a different story. I was devastated, still am. But I found and still find this forum an escape from reality and that all is not lost. Again, I hope the same for you.
Bob

Re: Follow Rusty's Memorial Traveling Engines!
Here are Rusty’s engines posing with a few of the favorites in my collection as well as some of my Cox-powered RC planes. My time with the engines was short as I’ve been going through a busy and challenging period in my life that hasn’t allowed much time for hobbies. Regardless, I enjoyed having them for a while. The little blue 15” span Tee Stik is the model I built and flew with the World’s Smallest Traveling Engine a few years back.
