COX .40 engines (two)
FOR SALE: COX .40's (pair) Folks on this site will know far more about these engines than I do, was told very little about their history from the individual I got them from. From what little I know these are two of twelve (?) prototype engines Cox made - one looks to have never been run, the other maybe ?. I can supply lots of photos, just let me know what you would like to see more of. Please note the photo showing one with a spinner on it - old photo - there will NOT be any spinner included, it didn't come with it. These are exactly the way I received the two engines = both do NOT have ANY gaskets - NONE I don't know why? Also Note: Inscribed in the inside bottom of the cases (see photos) are the numbers 21 and 23, haven't a clue what these represent, both came setup with venturi's as seen in the photos, my understanding is there were some that were setup for R/C - have never seen one, was just told that.

Certainly some neat examples. Where did you acquire them from? Way out of my price range, but others may want to know the back story.

It really is crapshoot on pricing. It’s not like they are auctioned every day or bought and sold privately often. There is nothing to compare it to. I can’t tell if that is a good deal or not. It’s not like they could ever be used as if they break the parts would have to be hand made.
The other conundrum is what will the value be in 40-50yrs? The market has has hit it’s peak. Baby Boomers are the largest market followed sporadically by Gen X. I don’t see millennials carrying this through. It’s a really tough decision, I suppose if someone has 1.8K burning a hole in their pocket then grab em. I just hope that someone is on here.
