Cox Engine of The Month
1965 Aston Martin, cox powered
1965 Aston Martin, cox powered
Hello thank you for allowing me in the group, I have a small collection of tether cars mostly Cox powered and in my auction searching days I happened across an Aston Martin, I cannot find any information regarding this model online, in fact, I can't even find a photo of one, I was wondering any chance, someone here may know something about this car, it's a cast metal 2 plus pounds car it has all the bells and whistles that the non-gas-powered cars have ie. Trunk deck, hood, and all doors open, the engine is mounted in the rear seat, and in my opinion, it appears to have never been run, appears to have been made by Joyride Studios but not overseas, it does not say made in China or Japan on the stamp, in fact, the frame has embossed, Cox. LM Cox MFG made in USA. I have photos but I don't seem to be able to attach them here on this forum, any reply would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Yes (Leo Squiers) made very professional models with handmade parts and other modifications I think he converted models like burago and other dicast models I prefer rc models I have already seen a blue one burago convertion rc that was on ebay the person was asking a fortune and I must say that the construction left to be desired it used several pieces of different models it was a very nice model but I could do better Lighter quieter that could perform better and amazing look The little red car and the blue cobra that i made.. the cobra I believe is the smallest motorized nitro car in the world

Hello and thank you for the reply, the car is very similar to the Ertle model but it does not have all the gadgetry of the Bond car in the video it does have opening doors hood and trunk deck, very similar in color and I think all of the DB5 cars are, it is a very well made car, definitely not homemade, I don't know if this site allows you to exchange phone numbers what I could definitely text you some pictures if it's an option.
Thanks again for the reply

Hello and thank you for the reply, the engine does not appear to be custom it looks as though it's the standard.049 I can see the engine clearly enough to make out the word thimble from the bell housing any closer inspection would require disassembling of the vehicle and I'm not quite ready to take that task on.
Thanks for your input

Thanks for your reply, It appears to be the standard .049, when I look in the car with a magnifying glass I can see THIMBLE stamped into the bell housing.

I'm not seeing your pictures. Try to follow these steps:
https://www.coxengineforum.com/t15567-how-to-post-an-image-in-a-topic
Edit: I see you added your pics in the first post. Confused as there was another thread of the same title (that I deleted) mentioning photos.
Looks good.

Re: 1965 Aston Martin, cox powered
Thanks for your reply, on closer inspection I can tell you are correct, the Cox frame has been cut into the cars plastic undercarriage and refitted into the cast metal body, I had not inspected the car this closely until I looked at the pictures you offered, thanks again.
I think I'll list this one for sale, does anyone on this site list on eBay as far as you know?

I must admit I have to retract the "definitely not homemade" statement, on close inspection, I can see cut marks on the plastic undercarriage where the Cox frame was fitted, it looks like a nice install, however, I think I'll put this car up for sale.
Thank you for all your input, very helpful folks here in this group, happy to be here

You might try listing it here first cj. But yes many here list on ebay. It's easy, safe, and can be profitable.

I've got a Covette I can't figure out
I have a really nice Corvette that has a frame like the plastic one but a really nice detailed steel body. It weighs a ton.
