Re: Anybody up for a "Stik" build off?
The clan is going out tomorrow by the way even if you get it fixed up it won't have more power than the .010 but I am gonna try and fly my one on the FMK rainbow.proctor wrote:Hi Indra,
No I've had the TD 0.020 for years but about a month ago got a
nib TD 0.010 and ran it for the first time tonight.
Seemed to have just about enough peep to fly Matchstick but
I can see something bigger in it after initial flight.
BTW posted my Clan yet? John
Re: Anybody up for a "Stic" build off
Well my Matchstick is finally finished, installed landing gear/prop saver
and extended mount to get correct cg. Now able to ditch lead and use
my small lipo. Weight now 5.36oz ready to fly.

This looks really great, especially the covering job on the wing. Can you tell me what material did you use for covering?
Also, can you explain (or better yet draw a diagram - if that's not too much to ask) how is the landing gear mounted to the fuselage?

Re: Anybody up for a "Stic" build off
Hi Dirk, Afraid photo makes covering look better than it is.
Used very light mylar first, a transparent film attached using UHU
Magic glue stick. Gently heat shrunk then lightweight tissue and
dope on top of mylar. Then airbrush white acrylic and airbrush
fuel proofer. I was using Depron ribs so mylar was necessary to
stop dope eating ribs.
Undercarriage, easy, installed two brass tubes in fuse, next
to bulkheads for strength, tubes just proud of covering so
wires don't cause damage. U/c in two halves and the top of
each leg on each side has right angle bend that pushes into
tubes about 1/2". Rubber bands hold the two halves together.
I use soft 1/16" welding wire to make patterns of the four legs
before copying in piano/music wire. Hope that's clear Dirk I'm
better at making U/C's than posting sketches John
